Be warned though, VERY spicy...... but also VERY delicious. As a vegetarian, I often use it successfully to add flavor to tofu (which is typically quite bland) dishes. Review: Make sure the shipping is good enough for a glass bottle. - I ordered two of these, they came separately and packaged the same. In both cases, the bottles were opened and the oil, not the solids had spilled out into the plastic bubble wrap and then into the postal bubble wrap. Some how the packaging is not good enough for the oil to not come out of the bottle. In the first case, I opened it and made some red thai curry with it. It was kind of chunky, but I did not have all of the oil, so I didn't know. I added a can of Maesri red curry to it and kept working it with the galangal, ginger, garlic, coconut oil then the coc milk with water as needed. The sweet basil leaves can be seen in this way, it is not like Pae Ploy or Maesri in terms of consistency. You need to eat rice with it or it can bee too spicy for some. I have another shipping opened one in the fridge now, and will try it again soon. I will not buy this kind again until some type of shipping validation gets performed through. ASTM has procedures to help in this type of thing. The taste is great and you can taste the basil and the leaves have texture.

Jar was not sealed, possibly spoiled
The jar was not sealed properly when it arrived. It was covered in goo and there was no pop/suction noise when I opened it. The label says "keep refrigerated and use within 3 days after opening", but who knows how long it had been open and unrefrigerated before it got here! Disgusting, it's going into the trash.

Great for those who like a Thai dish with spicy basil sauce.
Very similar to the real thing which is a bit spicy. To make it milder use less (1 teaspoon at most) & add honey.

Bad condition
I have used this before and like it, but this time it arrived in this condition. Edit: the seal was not broken and the lid was airtight so I was able to use it. I had to wash the container before using.

A little dab will do ya!
Any more than that and you're likely to pass out. Oh, but what a lovely way to go! Seriously, just that one little dab will wake up the most boring of meals. Soups will sing, rice will zing! Colds are banished by the addition of this to humble chicken soup. The flu is flown when this is administered. (spicy foods make you sweat out the toxins) So nice, we bought it twice. Will have to see now what else the store carries...like shrimp paste for shrimp toast??? YUM!

Only 3 days????
The label on the jar says refrigerate after opening FOR UP TO THREE DAYS. That’s ridiculous!!

SPICY!!!
I add about a tablespoon to my red curry and it adds a lovely numbing fire. The basil is an added bonus and really gives a depth of flavor. I used a bit and kept the rest in the fridge and it saved just fine, even though the container says to use it within a week of opening.
