Brainspotting with Young People: An adventure into the mind

Beautifully illustrated and we'll written to help children and families grasp a better understanding of brain spotting. In addition it is helpful in diminishing far and apprehension in participating in brain spotting therapy.

This is an excellent introductory book to welcome children and adults as well into Brainspotting. Well written in rhyme with engaging animal figures. Definitely worth buying.

It is cute but too cutesy. I don't think my clients (children K-5 graders)would get it. They are more black and white type kids.

I really love this charming and gentle little book. It's playful and fun, and gently helps children to understand the journey of trauma therapy and healthy attachments. The relationship between Big Bear and Bear Cub is one of safety, attunement and trust, and I think reading this book with LAC kids would help to nurture that attachment relationship as well as helping them to understand the therapeutic process. It also prepares them for the ending of therapy from the beginning, which is so important with kids who have already experienced so much loss. The rhymes are charming, funny and sweet, and the whole book is soothing, for adults as well as for children I suspect. The illustrations are beautiful, and the parrot pun made me laugh out loud! I would strongly recommend this book for any trauma therapist, as I do believe it could be really helpful with traumatised adults as well. It gives a sense of safety and hopefulness that many clients entering trauma therapy will desperately need.

It is a wonderful story, with beautiful illustrations that playfully and comprehensively explain the process of Brainspotting therapy to the child in a fun and safe way. It is a great preparation tool and a gift to my practice as I have found it tremendously useful, both parents and children love it. I am finding that the children really get engaged with the story and ask lots of questions, they adore the pictures and ask for the story again at following sessions. Any fear or trepidation about receiving therapy is soothed by the story as the children relax and engage well as trust and understanding is established through this story telling. I have also found it extremely useful to give it to teachers and other professionals to explain how I will be working with children. I wouldn't be without it.

Beautiful book! Loved how brainspotting was explained in an easy, gentle and fun way. An exploration of the immense benefits of this extraordinary and powerful therapy. It was journey from funny rhymes to feeling nurtured with a sense of letting go.Also bought one for my sister and her children and they love it! Highly recommend this exciting and wonderful book!

Absolutely fantastic book. The gentle, playful way that it introduces and explains the technique of brainspotting is genius. Through the mediums of rhyme and art, it simplifies the concept of this trauma focused therapy in a fun, non threatening manner, whilst taking the reader on a emotional journey attune to the process of the therapy itself. I can't recommend enough.
