Best gloves I've owned for competitive sailing
I love these gloves. I've tried so many and these are the best. I sail almost entirely for competitive races- summer, fall, spring. They're not great for extremely cold weather, but they work in cold situations. I generally get a pair each year, but I can get away with using an old pair if I have to- they last longer than any other gloves I've had. They're very 'sticky' even if they're kind of old or have been used a lot (which is great because they aren't the cheapest). They are not uncomfortable or cumbersome if you wear a watch. They're not extremely breathable, but they're not going to make things too much worse on a hot day. I have found when they get wet, they don't dry well (but most gloves don't wick) and your skin may pickle a bit (but not so much as the gloves with a lot of heavy material). They protect the back of your hands, too. I am the core jib and spinnaker trimmer for our boat and have never had an issue in heavy wind with these gloves. There are no real solutions to prevent your hands from being tired (unless you exercise/prepare them), but these have saved me from excessive tiredness because the grip is so good. The only issue I had with them this time is the measurement guide (and I checked their site before I ordered). I wasn't at home to check the size of my previous gloves, so I had to measure when ordering. I measured my hand and ordered what was recommended. They were too large. Since these are nearly impossible to find in a store, you kind of have to take a chance if ordering the first time. I have normal women's hands and I take a small. (These gloves only have typical sizes- they do not have women's or men's sizes).

The Palm Pad Fades
I was able to get one full, good season on Lake Michigan out of these gloves. I was initially very impressed with the gloves. The size was spot on. The Velcro closure was top notch and well thought out. My hands felt protected in all the right places. The failure of these gloves showed up in the padded palm of the glove. While comfortable, it can not handle abrasion; especially that of high speed line. Frankly, if I nice piece of leather was there, this glove would have been perfect. The search for the perfect glove continues...

well-designed
These gloves seem pretty well thought-out.They are comfortable, with mesh vents near the base of the fingers. There's thick padding on the palm, which may save you from breaking your arms when you break your fall. The fingertips have very good grip. The exposed thumb and index finger feel strangely cold, but i guess that's normal for exposed finger gloves. There was also some seemingly decorative rubber strips on the tops of the hands, the glue holding them on was post-it weak, so i just ripped them all off, as they seemed to serve no apparent purpose anyway. The dexterity with these gloves is such that i can actually type in my password to unlock my computer.

I fvcking LOVE these gloves!
I've been using the black magic gloves for a few years now - the material is fantastic, and I can usually get an entire season (50 days of racing) out of a single pair. They grip really nicely and I can trip the spin sheet by hand for hours without cramping. The open thumb and forefinger makes sail changes and rope work a breeze. My biggest beef was the velcro closer, which used to wear out prematurely - but it's been upgraded, and I'm a happy trimmer once again!

Great Sailing Gloves!
Great gloves. I just spent four days living and working aboard a sailboat on Lake Superior, some of it in fairly heavy conditions, and these gloves met my requirements - they're comfortable, and they saved my hands. I plan to use them for a long time!

Great sailing gloves
Great sailing gloves. Comfortable in warm weather. GREAT in cold/wet weather. Your hands will get wet and may get a little cold but they won't stay cold and they won't go numb. No sacrifices with dexterity, can still easily tie/untie knots. Would highly recommend these gloves.

So far great fit & quality.
Great fit and quality so far. The small size was good for my female hands (5'5" tall, medium build). My fingers feel protected and yet agile enough to manage the lines when hoisting etc. I have not used these gloves for an entire MI sailing season yet, which runs April to Oct., to judge the total quality yet. Previously, I used my Gill sailing gloves for almost 3 years until one glove ripped in a storm. At this point it is worth purchasing.

Comfortable and Effective
Hard to guess sizes sometimes. The gloves were a little snug at first, but stretched to fit very comfortably. The grip the lines nicely while allowing enough flex in the fingers to be limber. This is my first pair of new gloves so not sure how it compares to others, but certainly would recommend.
