TERRIFIC MUSICAL CD
These are five of the greatest musical ever made.SINGING IN THE RAINThis musical alone is worth the price of the cd. It has Debbie Reynolds, Gene Kelly, and Donald O'Connor. Donald O'Connor does the longest and best dance of any musical. The story is warm and you get caught up in the drama of Debbie singing for someone else. It's great family entertainment.THE MUSIC MANThis movie stars Robert Preston and Shirly Jones. Robert plays Harold Hill a man who comes to town to create a boys band. And Shirly is the outcast librarian who keeps fighting with the town's womenfolk about what good literature is. When the two meet sparks fly. This musical has the great song 106 Trombones Come Marching By. It is a terrific family movie.SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERSThis movie stars Howard Keel and Jane Powell. Howard comes into town looking for a wife and he meets Jane. She is wishing for a husband, a home of her own, and children. He's looking for someone to take care of him and his six brothers. Alls well until the men decide to kidnap six other women to care for his brothers. The problem causes Jane and Howard to separate until Howard comes home to a surprise.YANKEE DOODLE DANDYThis film stars tough guy James Cagney in a one-of-a-kind musical. James even dances. He could have starred in many musicals with his talent but he was always the bad guy in movies. James portrays one of America's most beloved songwriters, Geoge M. Cohan who wrote a lot of America's catchiest songs from the wars and songs that made Americans proud of who they were.VIVA LAS VEGASThis movies stars Superstars Elvis and Ann-Margret. They meet over a race car and sparkes fly. Ann's dad is helping Elvis so Ann comes to the garage to feed him and the crew and gets in the way. It has the song My Baby Blue Raxing Car. This is one of Elvis best films.

Entertaining collection of old favorites
I love old movies. The older the better. I also prefer to own, rather than to stream. Yes, the sound quality, and the picture quality, can be poor as compared to current standards, but if you know about the history of the equipment used to create the film; the fragile type of the film itself; the condition in which they were likely stored; and the quality of speakers and recording equipment which were used at the time; then you will not be bothered by the poor sound/picture quality at all. You will simply feel that the poor sound quality is a normal part of the viewing experience. It is completely unfair to judge an antique by modern standards. Instead, focus on the story, the filming techniques, the costumes, the furnishings, the architecture, the dialog, and the historical social significance of the film.It is also completely unfair to judge the past by present values. Are there offensive bits in old films which would never be tolerated today? Most probably, but why be offended when you can just as easily choose to understand how far we have come? In some respects we have come far, socially. In other respects, we have seriously digressed. I also like to see the contrast in the ways society has devolved as compared to the time in which they made these old films. Why bother watching historical films, if you don’t learn from them?PROS:Condition as expected. I enjoyed it.CONS:As in most antique media: Contents are sometimes in random order. Often menus don’t work. Usually you have to resize the aspect at which they are played. I consider these all to be a “normal” part of the experience.COMPS:As compared to modern films, adjust your level of expectation. When you approach them in this way, you will not be disappointed.VERDICT:Met or exceeded my expectations. Good/great value for money.I hope you found this information helpful. Have a great day! ~Savvy Shopper

A Great Musical Collection to Get Lost In
For the money (around 10 bucks, meaning 2 bucks a film!), this is a great deal. You get four classic musicals plus Elvis, and who can resist him and Ann-Margret swinging together? The video quality of SINGING IN THE RAIN is very good for a DVD and is the best of the five films. SEVEN BRIDES is fairly fusty, and THE MUSIC MAN could be spruced up with more restoration. But basically, unless you are overly fussy, this is a nice set, especially if you're learning about musicals and don't want to plunk down $ for blu-rays of everything.Be aware that the case is designed to stack the DVDs on one thick spindle. I found it easy to remove the disks from the spindle (unlike with other multidisk single spindles I've dealt with), but you do have to be a little careful.
