adequate for DIY residential use
Pretty good in terms of extension length for the pole. Blade is powerful enough for occasional use - good that replacement blade can be purchased. Easy enough to put together.Easiest to use if branch being cut is sturdy - if the branch wobbles or sways then hard to use this tool. Means that it is more useful when taking off the branch near the base rather than halfway along.I used it along with a lopping pole tool which deals with the smaller branches - then use this polesaw on the thicker ones.

Great tree saw
Absolutely brilliant made very light work of an established tree reach well over 17 feet , easy to use ,no ladders needed very safe way to cut tree back

If you have arthritic hands you may have a problem using it.
The pros are it does what it says like holding on to what it has cut, the blade is sharp but it should be, for most people its easy to use. The cons are if like me you have arthritis in your hands the cutting part can hurt my hands so I don't use it too often, otherwise it seems to be fine.

Does what it says on the box, and some!
It is described as a pruner, which it certainly does, but I used it to cut down a magnolia tree bit by bit including the main trunk about 20cm diameter. Would have been easier with a chain saw but my wife banned me from buying one!

Excellent but it does get stuck
This is a lightweight saw with a great reach. I'm a nearly-60-year-old woman and, while it's a bit of a workout, I can cut branches 12 feet off the ground. Mostly around 2 inch branches. It's a bit fiddly as the saw gets stuck more easily than the Silverline I bought this to replace. But take your time, do an undercut if you can (or if you cannot, a nice wide cut with 2-3 cuts next to each other), and it'll be fine.I was wary about the locking, as the Silverline locked in with metal buttons, which this saw doesn't have. But there has been no slippage at all. I hope the locks continue to work well over time. For now they work perfectly. The blade is sharp -- again not quite as sharp as my old pole saw. It takes longer to cut but is still pretty efficient. The reason I didn't replace the Silverline, by the way, is that you cannot get replacement blades. With this saw, you can. So it was a clear decision. And this saw has a better reach, too.The blade guard is a cloth sheath, which was disappointing. It will get damp and mouldy over time. I wish it were a plastic sheath. much more durable.Overall, a great saw for the price.By the way, some people complain about the blade being flexible. It is, but I don't see that as a problem. I figure that is part of the compromise of getting a saw that's light in weight. As I cannot use a heavy saw but do well with this one, it was an easy choice. I may have to spend longer to cut each branch, but I can do it myself without having to hire someone in.
