Great Story, though the disjointed timeline is confusing
I’m having trouble keeping the events of the story straight due to the story jumping around from present to past to present. At least we seem to have gotten caught up now and Volume 5 should be linear from this point. Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are obviously misunderstanding each other in classic romance novel fashion. I blame Lan Zhan. He’s too closed off. It’s no wonder Wei Wuxian misunderstands him. And I gotta wonder…does he REALLY not remember what happens when he gets drunk? If so, why does he keep doing it? I think it’s more likely that he remembers, but pretends he doesn’t so he doesn’t have to take responsibility. Then he keeps getting drunk because he enjoys the freedom. That my theory anyway.

Another wonderful volume
I'm quite pleased with the publisher's editions of this book. Vol 3 had some major issues but this one didn't. It was on par with the first two books. Well edited indeed. (Except for the A-issue but that seems to be a problem everywhere since people don't get that the A-is only in dialogue and ONLY in familiar address.) There's one part of this I have to give 10 stars to. I've read other translations of the book before - many times, and each one made the passion scene make little sense. This one did an exceptional job of it. The scene made sense and it was wonderfully translated. They also did an excellent job of showing just how much Wei Wuxian loves Lan Wangji. Other translations didn't do as good of a job at that. I'm excited for the final volume, the confession, and the final battle against their foe - I just wish I didn't have to wait four more months for it :) I have purchased both the print versions and the ebook versions of each of the volumes in this set so I can enjoy them both ways. (Now I can but hope they will get a team of Chinese voice actors to produce it in audio format. I'll purchase those too... as long as it's well done.)

Romance finally comes front & center
The penultimate volune of MDZS jumps in never lets up. It opens with Wei Wuxian rescuing the Wen remnants and steamrolls right to the epic battle at Nightless City before returning to the present time and the new siege of the Burial Mounds. The events leading to Wei Ying's downfall are heart-wrenching. Thankfully, he does not stand alone any longer; he has Lan Zhan at his side this time. Once again, I was amazed at how faithful The Untamed tv show is to the novel as the events match closely. The greatest diversion arises from the romance. And wow does the book deliver in spades on that! Lan Zhan's drunken night in Yunping is so much more (satisfyingly) erotic and brings the romance front and center. To the frustration of the reader, it also highlights how the two men struggle to really communicate with one another. Unspoken feelings are misinterpreted and both are left hurt and confused. The reader is left emotionally exhausted but desperate for Volume 5.

Must read!!
This series set me on the path of reading more Danmei. Though no other series has come close to just how fantastic this one truly is. I have read many novels and light novels and this one is so wonderful. I never thought I would enjoy romance in a book but this slow building is definitely where it is at!

Great book
I already love this series and him that this book is great I would like to note that this is technically the final book in the series but the fifth book is where you get to read all the extra spicy stuff that couldn’t make it into the original series
