We first saw these at a Japanese restaurant and then ordered this set for home. My daughter prefers to not use the finger holds right now, which train you where to hold the chopsticks.

This is great for learning to use chopsticks, my 3yr old (at the time of this review) is an expert at them already. She was quite frustrated learning how to use them especially around slippery soup noodles, however once she did, the "lightbulb clicked" and she started showing off to her older cousins and grandparents she was a master at them already :-) Pro - Fun, easy to clean, adjustable and fun characters to use. They also make it easier on the hand as you learn to use the chopsticks. The finger holders can be removed one at a time as you master the proper hold. Neutral - If you get rough with them, the finger holders and top portion will 'pop' off and slide up and down. But they are designed to move so I cannot fault them too much for the design. You need patience to adjust them for your child every time at the start of a meal. IN terms of quality, these are no different than purchasing the pack of plastic reusable chopsticks. If you use Chopsticks in your home on a regular basis you know what brands I am referring to. In terms of thickness, they are thicker than Korean or Japanese style Chopsticks and thinner than standard Chinese/Malaysian/Taiwan style "thick"chopsticks. (I might add Photos for comparison later) Every family I know that uses chopsticks never put them in the dishwasher as the heat would warp them, I presume it is the same with this brand. Besides chopsticks are so easy to clean by hand. Cons - Chopsticks are big but not adult size so once your child moves up to regular sized silverware be prepared to upgrade. Also the indented grips at the tips would be a better design as these are kids learning so the easier to grip your food the better. Parent tip: before you try eating with them, make a game to learn. We used the colored plastic bears, dried pasta and other items to practice picking up and putting them in cups before we tried food such as fruit (Berries) then regular dinner foods. It will help with fundamentals and coordination before moving on. 6/28/22- Added photo of different chopsticks for comparison. Left to right, child chopsticks, Korean style metal, Japanese styled, Chinese style. I know the photo doesn’t show the thickness difference that well, but it’s a good point of reference.

Perfect! We’ve bought the training chopsticks that don’t come apart and have a spring inside but they always break! These are perfect! Great for them to learn and have steps to make it harder till they can use just the sticks! Come apart for easy cleaning and they love to mix and match all the colors! These chopsticks also hold whatever they’re eating much better than the flimsy plastic. Definitely worth it!!
