Great face scrub before a shave!
I've been searching for a really good, deep-cleaning face scrub to use before I shave. I have sensitive, combination skin (dry and oily) that seems to be particular about what I use on it. A lot of exfoliating scrubs are either too harsh, too drying, or don't rinse off worth a darn. A few years ago, I spent a signifcant sum trying to find a scrub that really worked for me. I tried a lot of higher end products that were recommended, but it seems I struck out on most of them. I've used Nivea For Men deep cleaning scrub for years, and it works, but it doesn't do much to correct my skin if it's not just right. I enjoyed the Kiyoku scrub, but of the 4 times I've ordered it, the formula has been different each time, as well as the consistency (everywhere from really thick to watery thin). For the price I pay for a tube, I want some assureance that I'm getting what I want. On a whim, I tried Pacific Shaving Company Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub after reading an article online about it. I figured if it didn't work well, at least it was cheaper than a lot of the other products I had tried. I still have Nivea to fall back on. I was very surprised when I used it the first time. No chemical smells, no additives to tingle my face. Just a neutral smelling face wash with some grit I could feel. It went on easy, seemed to scrub just right, and rinsed off just as easy. My face was left feeling renewed and ready to go. Since I generally use a scrub like this before a shave, I found that the following shave turned out great. I had left a smooth canvas for my razor to work its magic on. Most importantly, I have found that my neck area has tended to not get nearly as aggrevated when I used this scrub before a shave. Ingrown hairs have virtually disappeared, which is something I've dealt with for the 30+ years I've been shaving. While the Nivea scrub helped to lessen the occurance of ingrown hairs, I still had periods where they would come to visit. I have yet to have one since using this, though. I've always had to use a post-shave ingrown hair treatment, as well. I still use that, but this scrub really seems to prepare my skin beforehand, so that the conditions causing the ingrowns are largely absent before I shave. After my first tube, I decided I liked the product enough to buy a 3 pack. Hopefully the great results will continue.

Pleasant
I’m a sucker for products with aloe vera or other organic matter, so Pacific Shaving Company’s Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub was a sweet siren song of aloe vera, bamboo, and willow bark. When I first opened it I was surprised that it’s: a) clear b) a liquidy gel and c) doesn’t have largish beads/grains like a lot of other “scrubs”. The scrub-y particles are like ultra-fine sediment suspended in the gel- it’s somewhat subtle. Being fragrance free it only has a faint soap smell.Doesn’t really lather much, goes on smooth with subtle scrubbing action, and rinses off cleanly/easily without leaving noticeable residue.I have combination to oily skin so I’m pretty picky about and have strong opinions about men’s facial products. But it did a good job of wrangling the oil without drying other parts of my face out. My skin was left feeling smooth and comfortable. Followed it up with a shave, and I’m not sure it improved anything but it certainly didn’t hurt either.

In this case, the hype is accurate
There is a lot of hype in Amazon reviews. Sometimes I'm fairly convinced that reviews are made by representatives of a given company. I've purchased some items that had raving reviews only to receive a product that fell flat. Well here, that is NOT the case!!!I previously purchased the Pacific After Shave and absolutely fell in love with it, no joke. I previously used high-quality products from Jack Black and Brickell, and those were indeed good. I tried the Pacific After Shave because the listing of natural ingredients and commitment of the company towards being healthy had me curious. When I put their after shave on, the effect is almost difficult to describe. I would say that not only does it soothe and tighten and moisturize, but it brings my skin back to a youthful feel (I'm late 40s). I often touch my face (sorry to sound creepy) afterwards throughout the day after a shave.Anyways, I was still leery of this product because I have some other facial cleansers and scrubs that are decent, and this product costs a bit more. After enjoying their after shave more and more after use, I decided I should at least TRY this stuff out. The reviews were very good, but again, I'm leery of hype. Well this morning I had my first use of this stuff (on a non-shave day even) and let me tell you it is everything raved about!!! My face literally feels like never before. I can feel the exfoliation... it's like the skin on my face is able to breathe. It's a very clean, refreshing, comfortable feeling. Often times with the face, your skin can feel oily on the one hand, or dry and a bit harsh on the other.Anyways, bottom line is that I think this is an awesome product, and one of the ones on Amazon where the hype is not hype, it's just true reviews.

Great Product
I've used the Bamboo Pre-Shave Scrub for about 3 weeks now and I can honestly say there's a noticeable difference in the quality of the shave I get and reduction in irritation. Just a nice and close smooth shave! I use Pacific Shaving Company's shave soap as well and the two products work great together. If you get a rash or ingrown hairs after shaving, such as in the neck/throat area, you should consider giving this product a try. Sure, it adds another step to shaving, but from my experience, its worth it!
