Best oil for old hot rods for the $$. Real good if you can buy the 2 jug case.
This oil is very good for older flat tappet cam shaft engines. Try to buy the 2 jug case to get the best price per quart. This oil has a better daily driver detergent package than the Valvoline VR1 oil which is a racing oil. If you have a older car with a flat tappet cam and you want to run a conventional oil this is the one to get. I have a 1970 Corvette with a factory solid lifter cam and this oil is what I use.

Premium quality classic engine oil.
Castrol quality with classic car type additives. This is all my restored British convertible gets. A proven lubricant.

Easy to find classic car formula for great price
Great alternative to zinc additives or running a standard oil in older flat tappet cars. I have used this and Lucas classic car formula. It feels like Lucas does a better job with cleaning and cooling, but this seems to work well too. This is cheaper usually so well worth it. Put it this way, if I can get Lucas on sale where its within a few bucks of Castrol, I'll buy Lucas. If Lucas is too expensive or too hard to get, I'll happily use the Castrol.

Helps keep our older cars running with bad new gasoline
This oil contains higher levels of zinc (ZDDP) which is needed in classic cars that use flat tappet (lifter) camshafts (hydraulic or mechanical). Newer oils had ZDDP greatly reduced, and their use could and did cause increased wear on the lifters and cam lobes, often leading to engine failure. The reduction in ZDDP was mandated by the government because of its effect on emission control devices; the impact on older cars was not a consideration. Until recently you would need to buy expensive racing oil or break in specific oil to protect your classic car's engine, so its nice to have this more standard oil available again!
