Great material
I used 3 layers to isolate 65 db noise from air conditioners tubing in walls. Worked great to reduce noise from tubes. Heavy stuff that definitely reduces sound penetration. Now I only hear the minor noise coming from the outside condensers through the 14x9 wall or through the window panes. Maybe someday I'll use it to cover the entire wall and surface with gypsum board. I'd still have that window though. Great stuff for reducing noise penetration through walls!

Works great to deaden sound of drain pipes.
I used this to wrap around my pvc drain pipes on the ceiling of our basement above a new drop ceiling I added. This combines with the drop ceiling all but eliminated the sounds of drain pipes. I used a combination of zip ties and gorilla tape to hold the prices I cut into place. A bit tedious to install but with patience it worked great. No sticky backing but way cheaper this way.

Not sound proof
This product claims to deaden sound and it does not whatsoever.

expensive and doesn't do much
i added a layer of this over an existing layer of acoustic foam, as part of my efforts to block out noise from a bar across the street, as well as other noise nearby. i am in a residential area, so it's an an outside wall. i haven't noticed any difference. if it was thicker maybe it would work better. I'm not really happy at the cost vs the results. i can't say if all MLV or another brand would do any better either.

It's vinyl. Of course it smells, says guy who has been around vinyl before.
Any synthetic material like this take some time to outgas after manufacture. It's surreal that the seller is disputing this and even more so that some purchasers seem to not to notice. Maybe it just has less smell than some other brands? At any rate, I would really like the seller to just let me know, how long is it expected before it fully outgasses? I've had it for about 48 hours and subjectively it's about 60% of what it was when it got here. I can't put it inside the house yet, says guy who doesn't like cancer. Happy to amend the review once I get a chance to try the product. Otherwise seems exactly like what I had in mind.

Awesome stuff, very heavy
Awesome stuff, very heavy, correctly applied, it is very effective, but pricey. I needed this for a small project and even large rolls of this stuff are costly. If you use it, read up on how best to deploy it. It is reflective so it needs to be covered with something that absorbs sound and works best when suspended between studs or wood furring strips.

Great soundproofing
This is my first attempt at using mass loaded vinyl for soundproofing the door to my closet recording booth. I live in a house that doesn’t block certain noises from outside, like lawn mowers and chain saws—not a good thing for narrating work! I chose this one because it gave me enough square footage at a good price. Although it’s heavy, it was easier to work with than that had expected. It cut easily. A heavy duty staple gun with 3/8 staples was fine for mounting. I tried a short narration as soon as the next neighborhood lawn mower started and the MLV blocked the noise!!
