These are pretty sturdy. And, yes, I was able to fill (about half way) two bags, tossing in some cedar for good measure. You'll want to press down and squeeze out as much air as possible, but pumping out the air isn't too onerous. I was actually pretty surprised that it worked (not that it's brain surgery, but that's the way things have been going lately lol). So these are sound. I spent quite a bit of time comparison shopping. Obviously, do a quick search, but, seriously, these work. The main thing is that the plastic will hold up if stowed, no problem there. The zip lock appears to be good too. The pump is as you'd expect nothing much to write home about (it's plastic), but it works, and works easily. Review: Keeps Clothes Clean AND Dry!!! - We used these for a recent trip to Mexico to try and pack everything into a carry-on. They worked perfectly. In addition to saving space, on the way home we repacked them and unknowingly put some sandy sandals in the same suitcase. The suitcase got all sandy but the clothes zipped up tightly in the space saver bags were kept clean and dry!!! I like them for checked bags as well because once we had bags stuck on the tarmac in a rain storm and they kept everything dry.
