Nice Crimper But ...
- Update - 1/11/2019------------------------------------Seller actually refunded the entire purchase price! I never asked for that in any way which took me by surprise. What can I say, this company actually cares about customer satisfaction which is rare these days! For that I increased my rating to 5 stars! If they just increase the length of the handles on the crimper to about 40-48" it would be perfect in my opinion. I intend on doing just that very thing in the near myself so as to not injury myself!------------------------------------The crimper works just fine and seems to be a quality tool but the handles are way to short for the size sleeves that its suppose to handle! We were crimping on 1/4" zinc cooper sleeves for stainless steel cable and I'm not a weak person at all (I lift weights almost everyday) and I could barely close the handles on the zinc copper sleeves without giving myself a freaking hernia! So for the rest of the day to play it safe, my dad and I teamed up to crimp the sleeves together and that wasn't no easy task!If the handles were about 12" - 18" longer this crimper would be absolutely perfect (just my opinion). I can only imagine the amount of force it takes to crimp an 5/16" aluminum sleeve (now that's a scary thought)!I'll be doing a video review of this crimper on my YouTube channel (Weaver Cattle Company) eventually if you want to see just what I'm talking about!

Gets the Job done
I needed a swaging tool capable of crimping 5/16 aluminum loop sleeves over 5/16 flagpole halyard rope with stainless steel cable core. I opened the swaging tool to it's extent, but the aluminum loop sleeves would not fit in the 5/16 opening without me forcing them by tapping them in with a hammer. I'm not sure if that's the fault of the tool, or the particular sleeves I bought. Compressing the swaging tool to complete the 5/16" crimp took some effort, but wasn't impossible. Once I had the loop sleeve in place, I placed one handle on the ground, put my foot on the tool's pivot point, and pressed the other handle down with both arms. I was able to complete all the crimps I needed, so I'm giving the tool 4/5 stars. The tool is a good value. It was the cheapest swaging tool capable of 5/16" that I found. The crimping loop sleeves I used that required force to fit in the tool were: Antrader Aluminum Crimping Loop Sleeve 20PCS Wire Rope Aluminum Sleeve Clip Fittings for 5/16" Wire Rope and Cable

Worth it!
Yes, this tool is expensive. However, I consider it essential for hanging/stretching Cable between trees. This seems to be a quality tool that does what it says. We used it on 1/4" Cable. They say each crimp can hold ninety percent of the cables workload. In relation to everything else the crimps themselves are VERY cheap,. So we used two crimps for each connection. Everything is rock solid. The swage tool worked great for us and did exactly as it's supposed to. No, it's not easy to clamp, but yes, it works perfectly. If too difficult to clamp, you could put larger pipes over the arms for leverage, otherwise you could probably spend several hundred dollars for a hydraulic model.

Swaging 3/8 cable takes huge strength
This tool absolutely works and the price is reasonable. I can't image a way that a single person could ever use this device. I am not even sure how two people could make it work. I had to put the tool in a vice that I have mounted to a tractor. It took my full body weight to get the tool to close. The swages are good but the process is difficult. It is not the tools fault, it just takes a lot of force to swage 3/8 cable. Without the vice set up I know I could not have done it by myself.

It's fine but time consuming
This Swager has the power for copper and aluminum sleeves but it is difficult to hold in place, and it is hard to get four crimps on an average copper sleeve. Copper also mushrooms a bit on the end with this Swager, so that means rotating the swage another three times on each crimp with difficulty aligning them. So, 16 crimps on each sleeve. I'm using bc I have to, but sure wish I could afford a hydraulic one... it's durable enough, just wonky.

You NEED This
This is a must for 3/8" wire rope cable, you will need a bench mounted vise for easier crimping. The #1 reason I bought this is because when using the cables with clamps (X3 clamps each end), at max pull (12,000 pound pull) they slipped! I cannot have this happen EVER. I maid up a 75' cable and put it to the test. I LOVE IT. No moving from the original crimped position. I do recommend.

Only one problem
This is a rugged and well performing tool. However, on receipt mine was almost impossible to actuate. No amount of oil would free it up. Turns out the tension was set too tight at the factory. I removed the small keeper bolt on the head and removed the thin plate that holds the tension bolts in place. The tension bolts were loosened a bit and the plate re-installed.Works great now. This is a good value.

Exactly what I was looking for to repair my winch cable
I like the simplicity and ruggedness. It takes a bit of muscle power to effectively double crimp the 1/4" ferrules. I used it to clamp my 1/4" winch cable around a hook for my snow plow. It does a very nice and professional looking job.
