Love sweet cherry books
These are adorable. My kids love how easy they are to read and understand. We have ordered so many different sets, from Sherlock to Jane Austin and we love them all.

Great Introduction Into Classics
I have gotten books by Sweet Cherry before, so when I saw these I decided to get them.I really like how these include audiobooks for free. The audio is pretty simplistic in that it is one long audio file, but it works fine. Since the books in this set are probably not the first titles a kid is going to reach for, it helps to have the audiobooks so at least they can listen to the stories. As with all the books by this publisher so far, I found the text to be readable and easy enough to understand by an elementary school aged kid. The illustrations all kind of have that same angular style, which isn’t my favorite, but I like that there’s illustrations to break up the text a bit. These are a great way to introduce classics into your kid’s lives that they may not otherwise read (or that they might come across way later in their educational journey).

So fun to read and compare to the longer versions
Ever wanted to read classics or have your middle graders read them? But they were so long you could t see anyone reading or taking the time to understand them? Then this is a great alternative. It has artwork and easy to follow chapters. The words are larger and honestly you can read it in just a few days with your kid. The plot does follow the originals just super condensed. You get the major takeaways. Also if you have read the longer versions it's kind of fun to see it in such a short read. These will be on my shelves for a very long time.

These classics are not age appropriate for the level these are written for
This is a set of Russian classics written in language for 7 year-olds and up (second grade), whose content is wholly inappropriate for this age group. The Brothers Karmanov, Dimitri's dilemma “ Katerina was his ticket to a safe, rich future, but Grushenka was what his heart desired”. From Anna Karinsky, she was a younger woman who married an older man and fell in love with someone else. From Eugene Onegin the topic at hand is about getting married and why his friend Lensky is marrying the wrong woman. A book with the name “War and Peace” is enough to say, maybe not a kids book. These are just not topics for a second/third/fourth grader. They need topics with kids or animals as the main characters, not adults with adult issues. Its vocabulary and contexts will not be understood by the younger kids for whom this is geared toward with the large print and pictures. Words such as sumptuous, candelabras, curtseyed from Eugene Onegin are just examples of complex vocabulary more appropriate for high school kids to learn or who would understand the words. Concepts such as “marrying young made her feel old before her time”, and “all the expectation and and happiness he carried with him evaporated”, will be missed, or are maybe not quite appropriate for kids this age.The content and vocabulary better for High School students but they would not be interested as this has pictures and large text geared toward the younger students. This is a very easy and short version of very larger and complex books with adult themes. Elementary kids will not understand glamorous ball or sumptuous dinners. These kids need to be reading about how to tell your friend you broke their toy truck by accident, or struggling to fit in when they move to a new school, not if the lovely bored princess will be having an affair and leaving her husband. I just don't think this was a good choice of book to share the classics with the kids. Maybe Heidi, the Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Charlottes Web written for 7 years olds may have been a better choice. Added to all of this, just the names and family names are going to be really tough for this age group. It is a great idea, just maybe the wrong classics.⭐️ 1 star - I don't recommend it at all.⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, poorly written or bad information.⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - Good Book. Not for me. Not the most well written.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Very good book quite, I would recommend and well written.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Book that I totally recommend and could not put down. Well written and a book I would read again

Great assortment of simplified classics
These are so fun! I've been on the look out for simplified classics for children. Time is so short these days, I love the idea of a simplified version so that my children are exposed to a wide variety of classic stories to build their foundation of knowledge of the culture we live in, but won't take up as much time as reading the full thing. If they enjoy the story, they can then read the real book. These fit the bill and were a decent read aloud. I would say these are best for ages 5-10, depending on if they're being read to or if they're the ones reading. My 11 year old is an advanced reader and they're far too childish for her, but she enjoyed joining us for story time.
