Is the thermometer submersible? For example, if one wanted to swim outdoors will it give an accurate water temperature?

I like the size and convenience. But I’m not sure the adhesive holding it in the frame will stand up to water for extended periods of use. However, I did hold it under running water to test it’s accuracy and it survived.

Is this durable and how accurate is this, since I will be taking it out with me on my expeditions up the summit hikes?

I bought it for similar reasons. It does seem to be accurate for its size. Its small size and being in an aluminum frame should ensure durability. I hang it on my backpack strap or in the tent.

If this were a real brrr-ometer, wouldn't it's range be something like -40f to 40f? who skis when it's 120f outside?

In more civilized Hawaii and California, we ski and wakeboard when temps are 100 degrees F. One must leave the 20 degrees safety margin on the thermometer. But I wouldn't select this product for the adhesive would more than likely soften when temps are that high I returned mine.
