Great travel mirror!
This mirror is a perfect size for travels. I took it on a long flight and it was very helpful. It lights up and the actual size of the mirror is great. I also like the exterior of the mirror, it looks elegant.

Great travel mirror
I ordered this to replace two other mirrors for travel. My old 10x lighted mirror was very small and had dim light (old bulb, pre-LED era). My larger travel mirror was too big to bring on most trips, and did not have a case so packing it up was a pain. This mirror has very good optics on both the 1x and 10x mirrors, and nice, bright light. I agree with other reviewers that I mostly need the light when working with the 10x mirror, so having it surround that one would be more convenient. However, since I mostly need it for chin hair search and destroy, the lighting from the bottom when using the 10x mirror on top is not a major issue.Love the size of this mirror - it is just right. Big enough to see your whole face in the 1x mirror, but not too large to travel with. I have not used it extensively yet, so can't report on how robust it will be. The case seems fairly sturdy. If you have it open with the 1x side facing you and the 10x side resting on a table or dresser, it tends to tip backward a bit because the case is curved. Nevertheless, it works fine for hands-free use. The hinge is stiff enough, at least on my nearly-new one, to hold the two haves at whatever angle you choose. The light switch, although recessed, does stick out a bit from the surface of the case. The mirror came in a nice envelope of bubble wrap. I plan to pack it in that in my suitcase, in the hope that it will protect the switch from turning on accidentally.

Great Combo Mirror
Love that this mirror has 10X magnification and a light. It may be designed for travel but it is a little bigger and heavier than what I prefer to carry in my bag. I bought this to use at home and it works great for applying mascara.

Larger 5" 10X mirror is GREAT to find in a travel mirror!
Being a bit farsighted now, I need some magnification to apply makeup precisely, and the 10X magnification just works well for me (granted, a little "scary", but at least I know what things REALLY look like, for better or worse!) Finding a travel version of a 10X mirror that is large enough to not be distorted and uncomfortably small to use is more challenging than one would think, I guess. It seems most offerings are in the 3.5" or less for mirror surface width, which leaves an impractically tiny and dizzying actual viewable surface on a magnifying lens. I'm not sure why more mirror manufacturers haven't figured out that there is a wide open market opportunity for a bit larger but still compact travel version of magnification mirrors. You'd think the baby boomer generation alone would buy them out! Personally, I have opted to simply pack my full size hand mirror on recent trips instead of going through the frustration of using a mini mirror, but this is not a great option for overseas travel. I really liked that this compact offered a full 5" 10X mirror, which is SO MUCH easier to use. The quality of the mirrors themselves seems excellent. I don't tend to use a lighted mirror on a daily basis and wasn't necessarily looking for one in a travel mirror, but couldn't find anything similar without the light and thought maybe I could use it to apply makeup in low lighting situations. Truthfully, although it is a relatively flattering shade of light, there is really not enough illumination to use as your main source of light in poor lighting situations. It is more of a supplementary light, and the fact that the light is on the non-magnified side (no doubt to maximize magnified area) means that when you are using the 10X side you will either have unflattering lighting from below your chin (eek!), or shadow-producing lighting from above, depending on how you hold the open compact. The other consideration for me was that the mirror really needs to be held up while applying makeup, unless one wants to bend way over the counter to use, and it is kind of heavy and awkward to hold up this way, without any handle. In addition to being fairly heavy, because the lighting option also makes this mirror pretty thick (about 3/4") when closed, I think I will explore other options myself but, in my opinion, this is a really decent, affordable option for anyone looking for a very workable, lighted travel mirror with both 1x and 10X high quality mirrors.

I like this mirror but...
This is a great mirror to keep in a larger purse or while traveling. It is nice to have two mirrors - 1 magnifying, the other not - and the light is great. The problem is with the one/off switch. It is small and very "loose" so if kept in a purse, it will tend to get moved into the "on" position easily as items in your purse move around. As a result, the batteries end up burning out quickly - after having this only about 3 months or so, the batteries were dead, not because I used the mirror constantly, but because of the light turning on in my purse without me realizing it. Now I have to buy all new batteries - and this holds 4 of the 2032 circular batteries which cost about $5 each. So for a $25 mirror, I am going to have to spend $20 to buy new batteries after only 3 months.

Effective and compact, travel mirror.
This is a wonderful mirror, I especially love the 10 times magnification and the extra lighting it provides. It’s compact and great for traveling. The only element I am not crazy about is the fact that you have to buy batteries for it all the time. But that’s minor.

Light on the wrong mirror.
The light (very dim) is on the wrong side. In my opinion. I needed the light to be in the magnifying 10x side. Useless.
