near perfect
The more I handle and examine this knife the more I like it . The 8 inch blade [ cutting edge ] is not overly long and awkward . The 1 1/2 inch width is in proportion to its length and size . The 3/16 blade width that narrows to the tip gives the feeling of sturdiness with out making it feel " clunky ". I have yet to use it but once I get a keen edge on it , I feel it will make a good tool and ready weapon . What I don't feel is a plus is ,the handle is smallish and slick . I beefed it up with racket tape , it has more girth and a better grip . I prefer a leather sheath so I will probably change it out at some point . The existing sheath is very secure , I doubt the knife would fall out some how . does not come out easily . The price was reasonable so I am satisfied with my purchase . To me , a gun talks to me , a knife sings to me . this knife sings a strong baritone .

Excellent Blade, But the handle is 1 inch too short.
The blade quality is excellent. For a 6'2" male I have smaller hands. As had been mentioned in other reviews, the grip is too short to handle this knife safely. The grip needs to be 1 inch longer, slightly thicker (1/2 inch wider would be perfect). The grip either needs more texture or to be made from a different polymer, it is too slippery as it stands. I will either be putting this into my collection, or wrapping the grip in textured tape.

Perfect balance!
I could not find any info on this model on line so here we go!Out of all the models in this line, this one is perfectly balanced. It's not handle or blade heavy and in my opinion the Camp is a combo fighting/Bushcraft Knife. The blade profile is suited for so many tasks in the Bush, camping, survival and tactical. It is an 8 inch razor blade and holds the edge. The sheath is on point! Very well made and the blade retainer molded into the sheath is solid, secondary button strap retainer NOT NEEDED but always nice to have a backup.Downs,Scales serve there purpose Well but the color sucks! I have not been able to locate replaceable scales at this time.Seller,WoW!!!!!I live in FL, there in NY I received this Knife in 2 DAYS, Awesome!Shouldn't be any issue with the Knife, it's a Ka Bar.

A different Review
I'm making this review from a different perspective than most. And while some may find my perspective strange at best, know that the star rating of this review rests squarely on KA-Bars shoulders and the issue at hand is true no matter what perspective you take.I bought the "Camp" version of this knife for a very specific reason. Primarily for a cook prep knife. I am fully aware that this is not a kitchen knife and that's exactly as it should be. I'm fully aware that most are not looking at this knife primarily as a chefs knife. And that's also as it should be. And my star rating is not largely based on this knifes short coming as a chefs knife. But, as a food prep knife, there are a couple short comings that hold this knife back. The heel of the knife handle is lower than the heel of the knife blade. Why? I know it's not specifically designed to be a food prep knife. But the fact that the heel of the handle is lower than the heel of the blade servers no purpose for any potential use. This knife is going to prep a lot more food than it's going to baton wood no matter who is using it. While this "Flaw" isn't a deal breaker, it's just unnecessary. This boils down to fashion over function. In the same vein, the bottom of the handle is effectivly longer than the top of the handle, such that part of the palm of your hand is forced to press into an angle. This has a tendency to create a "Hot Spot" in that part of your palm. Again, not an absolute problem (at least not for me), but still an unnecessary flaw in the design. Just bring the top of the handle all the way back or if you insist on having this fashion design, make the over hall handle a bit longer. These two "Flaws" are fashion over function and are minor in my opinion overall. The next minor flaw is more of a straight up functional flaw. The screw at the front of the handle is just too long and pokes out past the scales. I say it's minor because it's not show stopping. But it does catch into your hand while you're working with it and it's just matter of poor fit and finish, not to mention a lack of attention to detail. Those three times cost this knife one star. The other star is fully based on the plastic scales. This is a 100 dollar + knife. KA-Bar is now famous for this plastic handle bull crap. These handles should be Micarta all day every day. Are the scales functional? Yes they are. But they are also garbage. And functional garbage on a 100 + dollar knife is simply unacceptable. At least give the OPTION of buying a more expensive version of the knife with Micarta scales. This is the knifes most egregious flaw.Which means, this knives flaws all lay in the handle. Fit and finish, garbage plastic scales and very questionable fashion over function design flaws makes this a 3 star knife in my opinion. And it's a shame. Because this knife should be 5 stars all day long. The sheath is great for this price point. The Black coating is much better than the rough coating on the BK series of knives. And for it's size, its fairly well balanced and not stupidly heavy which is good for a cook prep knife. And, It's hard to go wrong with cro van steel. Frankly, the problems with the handle are hugely disappointing. It's going to cut up vegetables and Meat just fine. It's going to do exactly what I bought it for. It works for me. But that doesn't excuse the handle.

Handle material too slippery
Please make different handles for this knife. Something in rubber or other non-slick material.

Big blade with small, slippery handle
Like the title says, the handle is small and doesn't provide much grip compared to the large blade and almost any intended use. I am puzzled by this design choice.Other than that it seems well made like most Kabar products.

It's a Ka-Bar but wring info, only 14" and not 16" overall
Just wandered why no one noticed that there is an error in this description. It states 16" overall but it is only almost 14" (2" shortfall). As from the photo taken with comparison to the Ka-Bar Jarosz "Turok" with a 6" blade, it about the same size. But if you look at the photo provided in this listing, looks like a "big" knife with a misleading description of 16" overall length.Other than that, its a Ka-Bar, good quality and definitely will last, Haiz, just too short
