Q: I have rain bird 5000 rotating sprinklers. will this product retrofit these sprinkler heads ? i'm unclear if it matters what models can be changed.

I believe you can replace any standard sprinkler head with this system. We did not have rainbird sprinkler heads and we were able to use these. They work perfectly.

Q: Do I need to shut-off or cap the other rainbird sprinklers in that zone? We have a shallow well and take pond water. Current heads are 5000-series.

Each zone should be either drip or sprinklers, because drip waters more slowly but longer time, while sprinklers water shorter time with more water. plan on having either separately.

Q: What is the difference between the "original version" and the "new version"?

I don’t think there is any difference that I can see. Looks just like the original ones I purchased in 2015
