How do they compare in build quality to thorogoods or Red wings? Any more stylish Pro timberlands?

I can tell you from personal experience that these particular boots hold up better than the boots I used to purchase at the Red Wing store for $275.00. The Red Wings are comfortable and well built, but the leather is soft, it rips, and the soles wear down quickly. You can get them resoled but I never had the leather last long enough to warrant getting them resoled. I would get 9 months from a pair on average. One year I was low on funds and tried these Timberland PRO boots. It was a slow time in construction, so I wasn't wearing them 5 or 6 days a week 10 hours a day, but they lasted me three years. I bought a second pair, wore them daily, and got 18 months out of them. They were beat looking but still comfortable with some tread left. I'd say these boots are easily good for a year, 10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week. Invest in toe guards if you want to get the most life out of these boots, especially if you kneel a lot or rest things on the toe for leverage.

How do the sizes on these compare to their safety toe boots? Would I be the same size in soft & metal toe?

Do these run big compared to sneakers?

No. People often order boots too small for some reason. I wear 10.5 wide in under armour running shoes and the same in timberlands. Timberlands fit me the same every time. Ive had about a dozen pairs in different styles and i always do 10.5 wide which is my shoe size and they always fit

ok these boots are on the womans site as a recommended boot. what size is comparable to womans sizes??

I would have to say 1 1/2 size difference. If a woman normally wears an 8 in women's, you should probably order 6.5 in these men's boots.

Used to be Great

I need to buy work boots yearly for my job. I bought these same boots last year (Oct 2015) and they fit perfectly. They wore so well I bought them again this year. I even looked up my past order and used the same link to make ordering again easy.Unfortunately I am in the process of returning this years boots because the toe area in the left shoe is significantly narrower than the right, rubbing my toes.In the group picture, last years shoes are on the right & the new ones are on the left. The second picture shows a close up of this years shoe. The left shoe (the one on the right in the pic) is the narrow one. It's harder to tell in the picture, but it is SIGNIFICANTLY more narrow. I double checked the inner tags and they are labeled the same size 12M.I haven't decided if I'm going to order a replacement pair or go to a brick & mortar store to find boots. Maybe it's just a one time defect that slipped through quality control?

Timberland Pitboss

The material on the inside of the collar started peeling off after about 12 days of wearing these boots. Contacted Thimberland warranty and they said its only cosmetic and does not affect the boots. I purchased one of the earlier 24/7 boots more then 15 yrs ago and the collar was made of a durable cloth. The leather is also stiffer and is better quality. I purchased this pitboss to replace that old one because the sole is finally falling apart. This Pitboss has been a huge disappointment. The sole and insole seems to be identical but the upper is completely cheaper. I would not buy another timerland product.
