There is no scent, per se - but there is a tiny amount of natural vanilla in the formula which helps to overcome the natural scent of the oils, which are not always pleasant. It is a very light pleasant scent, but barely noticeable. It goes away after application.

would the shade "lilac" show up on very fair skin?

Hi! Yes, the Lilac is a light lilac purple color. For example, I am Italian, but I do have fair skin in winter and my lips are average/medium color for fair to medium skin. It definitely looks lilac purple on me. It looks very close to the image on the listing of the blonde wearing it, who has fair skin.
