Parents Are Human Bilingual Conversation Cards, English + Brazilian Portuguese

Bought this deck with the intention of playing with my aging parents when I went to visit them. Set aside time to play with each of them separately. My mom was very happy to let me just ask questions from the deck, with the Chinese side being really helpful when the English was too complex for her to understand. My dad wanted us to alternate, each asking the other a card.Either way is fine, it's mostly just to stoke conversation that goes beyond the real basics of "How are you doing?"I ended up recording the conversations and really getting to find out some things from my parents. Even got an apology from my mom for what she felt was substandard parenting. (As an Asian-American, I think that's on the top 10 list of things never heard from parents, so color me impressed.)My mom also told me later that she really was happy that we used the cards and that she was very touched by it.In short, well worth it.

Wanted to order directly from the website but shipping was too long -- this came just in time for a trip. Really loved the prompts, and the Tagalog was great. Opened the door to great stories I never heard from elders. I guess I just never knew what questions to ask! Highly recommend.

Does exactly what I was looking for, great conversational tool, like this product

This game is great, you’ll start off answering the question on the prompt and it’ll end up in a different topic that goes on and on. Learned so much about my parents I didn’t know before. Cannot recommend this enough!

Regardless the literal translation of the content, the character of traditional Chinese is correct, but the pinyin/zhuyin for the traditional Chinese is not inclusive enough for the people who are using traditional Chinese. They are using the simplified Chinese pinyin to put under the traditional Chinese. For people who use traditional Chinese in the world, it could be all 3 types: zhuyin/cantonese pinyin/ pinyin

Cards are well made. The questions are fairly thought provoking but not controversial - this is a good balance for “traditional” relatives who won’t appreciate spicy questions. As an American Born Chinese (ABC) I’ve been looking for ways to start conversations with my grandparents so this is exciting. I have not played with them yet so I can’t vouch for the Chinese translation being accurate in context though.

Took my parents on their first vacation to the mountains and it opened up a lot of conversation and memory sharing while allowing both of us to explore English and Cantonese. The bilingual feature made my parents a lot more comfortable when discussing the answers and made them feel seen and included.

I bought this for my son and daughter in law as well as my daughter and son in law and both are raving about how easy it was to open up and talk about something they may not have thought of sharing or maybe a hard memory….. most def recommend as a tool for connecting
