Hands down, this is THE best tool I have in my arsenal toward acheiving better health!
I've used a lot of fitness journals over the years and this is HANDS DOWN the best one I've ever used! It makes daily tracking so easy and gives you plenty of room to write while still keeping the journal small enough that it's easy to carry around. The paper is smooth and lots of pens write well on it (something I really appreciate!), it lies flat and is sturdy because of the hard cover and elastic band you can use to keep it closed. There are places each week to go over your progress and plan the upcoming week and it's just enough to keep me focused and on track without being overwhelmed. I also love the tips, challenges, reminders and encouragement throughout the book! Last, I like that it's a six week book... Mentally, it's easier for me to commit to six weeks at a time than it is 3 months or 6 months like a lot of other journals, so add that to the list of things I love about it. I don't use every single aspect of the journal the way it was intended (e.g., right now, I'm focusing more on food than working out, so I sometimes use the workout section for writing a sentence or two about how I did that day), but I love the flexibility it gives to me while still providing the structure and encouragement I need for my journey toward better health. I promise - you won't be disappointed!!!

Best tracker I've found--lost 22# last summer!
This is a wonderful tracker for those who don't want to use strictly digital info tracking products for weight loss. I used it to start off a diet for the summer and lost 22 pounds and many inches over the summer including the 6 weeks the journal covers. I can totally ignore & forget to enter info on my computer or even a plain paper printout or such--but when I paid for this product and left it on my kitchen island in plain sight--I felt somehow more obligated to keep at it daily. I tracked everything I ate, my exercise, water intake, and answered the motivational questions faithfully. It also has before and after weight and measurements. I'm not a weight loss program scammer, or anything like that--just an old lady who wants to pass on an actually helpful item! Really good for a starter rather than the regular FitBook which concentrates a lot more on detailed workouts, weight training, etc. This Lite version starts at the basics and offers tips, motivational info and gets you going in the right direction. The Lite also has space for exercise but not as complicated. I wrote down my bike riding, steps taken, and any heavy outside work that I felt was good exercise (such as push lawn mowing) in those spots. I used a step counter (see my other reviews--PINGKO, not expensive) and tried to get 5,000 steps a day. I almost always got those and some days more. This Lite version includes meal planning areas too and I used those to make food that was ready to grab & eat for a couple days without being tempted to grab snacks & fast food. HERE'S THE BEST PART: I'm 66 years old, did not starve myself but ate fresh and healthy food including some meat and treats--no special low carb, or other type diet. I have two knee replacements and can only ride my bike for exercise--no jogging, walking, elliptical--have to keep it to non-weight bearing exercise. I lost the 22 pounds without extreme measures of any sort. I wasn't morbidly obese which generally allows much larger weight losses at the beginning, just heavy, so this weight loss is doable for almost anyone. My cholesterol came down 28 points and my joints feel much better--plus looking better gives even an old lady a lift! If you're older--or any age and don't care for digital tracking--GIVE THIS JOURNAL A TRY!

Best log for competitor or novice
I've tried probably 15 different food/training logs and this one is what I would make if I was to pull the best features from each of those. Small, but with a space for what matters most when embarking on better health and fitness, the fitbook is always in my purse. Why? 1. It starts with a place to get clear on goals-- not just an12 week goal, but daily ones too. 2. A place to log weekly stats such as your weight. 3. A daily food log that's not cumbersome with calories etc-- that's outlined the way I like-- 3 meals and 3 snacks/day. 4. Simple checkboxes for an accounting of water intake. 5. Simple checkboxes for nutrient accounting. ( I only use this to log protein and vitamins but there are more choices such as fruits, grains, veggies etc.) 6. A "circle the face" quick rating of how clean you felt your meal was. 7. Separate places to log strength training and cardio each day. I love this bc some journals I've tried outline only one type of workout on a day...so if you do weights on a cardio day you'd need to write in on the margin or stick a post- it on that page to log it. 8. A place to rate your workout so you know if you should adjust something next time. 9. A place to log calories burned during a workout. 10. The adorable pen that comes with it that clips right inside the spiral binding! Honestly, I've been lucky enough to win an international fitness competition and this is better than the excellent log I used at that time to scaffold my success for that accomplishment. Props to the fitlosophy people for creating this excellent tool!

Great Tool
I found this journal to be an excellent tool when planning and tracking my exercise and meals. I loved that it had places to write down your weekly goals and motivational quotes. I also like that the daily log has a spot for the total time of the work out (strength training/cardio/combined times) and water intake. The journal is sturdy and can withstand 12 weeks in a purse or gym bag. I didn't like the food pyramid recommended servings tracker on the daily log and think the space would be served better as an area to calculate fat, carbohydrate, and protein intake. I also wish the log didn't force you to start the week on a Monday. I quit using the journal after 4 weeks beacuse I found it to be a hassle to keep up with my food tracking app on my phone and the written journal. Both was a little much. I really enjoyed the strength training tracking page in the journal so I found an app to help me with that.

Nice tool to help you reach your goals
I have been using the Fitbook for about 2 weeks now and I think it is a fantastic product. No fitness journal is going to magically make you lose weight, but if you have the motivation, I believe it is a great tool to help you keep track of what you are doing and to help keep yourself in check. The first thing I noticed about the Fitbook is how it is organized, and with it you have the capability to track a wealth of personal fitness information. With this product you can track all types of workout info, what you are eating, sleep, water consumption, as well as your overall progress over a 12 week period. Every week you set new goals in an effort to reach the overall goals set at the very beginning. Often in weight loss I think people can get frustrated because things are not happening as quickly as they would hope, I think this book helps with that problem, as it helps you take things one week at a time. There are a few things I don't like about this book. First, it kind of forces you to start on a Monday. Although on each individual day page, you circle what day of the week it is, on the weekly plan page, the days are filled in for you. Certainly, you could still plan your week, but things would be out of order. I think it would be better to let the person using the book fill in the days of the week on the weekly plan page. I think it would add to the overall versatility of this book as some people might want to start on another day for whatever reason. I also don't like the use of the food pyramid as a way to track food. I think if I ate every recommended serving of every type of food, I would be gaining weight. Again you don't have to use this book completely, but I would prefer just having check boxes for what types of food you have eaten, without the recommendations as there are so many diets out there, and everyone is doing something different. Regardless of these minor complaints, I would greatly recommend the Fitbook for anyone who is looking for a great way to track their fitness over time.

It is good for a beginner to a program since it helps ...
It is small, but I expected that. It is in the description so it shouldn't be a surprise for anyone. It doesnt seem worth almost $25, but it does what it is intended to do. I think it has all the bases covered. It is good for a beginner to a program since it helps you with planning, a feature missing in every other food/nutrition diary Ive looked through both online and in the bookstore (and I looked a long time at various options). So if you are looking for detailed calorie, protein, heart rate tracking, etc it might not work for you. But I got this tonight and am already excitedly planning...this is a good tool to form a habit by making intentional choices. It helps you make goals that are specific and measureable. The only reason I gave it three stars is because about a quarter way through, some of the pages are "creased in". It was packaged nicely so I don't know if it happened during binding or in-between packaging. It is minor, but I am a neat freak and it bothers me knowing I will have to use those pages. Honestly, i will probably rip those pages out so my book can stay neat... Otherwise, it is the planning and accountability tool I was looking for. i use myfitnesspal and will use that (with fat, protein, carb features) to play around with ideas to write in the meal planning sections.

Very nice!
I've used a lot of diet/workout logs to help me track my progress and reach my goals, I've only used this for a few days but it is quickly becoming my favorite. I didn't order this before because I wasn't sure about it's compact size, it's so well laid out that it actually makes it much nicer. It's set up with 2 pages per day that open flat for easy viewing and logging. The 12 week planner is helpful. I really like the weekly planner page, I can log workout plans, meal plans, stats and even a reward, great design and concept. Each daily page has place for workout times, check boxes for body parts focus on, 9 exercises and 5 sets. The cardio log has boxes for exercise, time, intensity, distance, heart rate and calories. There is a box for 'class' and a box for flexibility, both of these are nice since I do a daily class workout that I just want to log time and whether it was jiu jitsu or tae kwon do and always forget to work flexibility, so that's a great reminder. On the bottom is a place for notes and workout rating. The food log has just right size boxes for breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack to track foods, make notes and rate meal with smiley faces. Nutrient tracker at bottom is a great way to remind myself to keep meals balanced, eat colorful healthy foods, drink plenty of water and a place to log sleep. I use an activity monitor with online data site, but I also like to write some stats down, in the past I usually make notes on the pages, but this includes everything I want to keep track of. If I had one addition it would be a place to include caffeine intake.

Great journal!
I never do reviews beyond stars but this is really a quality item. I love the layout, the goals, and the motivation/inspiration throughout. I appreciate that the fitness part of it isn't just a line to write if you did exercise, but that it has a whole page for each day to track strength training, cardio, flexibility, calories burned, how hard you worked, and notes. What I like even better though is the meal tracking. What I usually do is plan out dinners for the week first (as that's where I would typically end up going off plan due to family living) and then add in breakfast and lunch to the daily meal sheet. I mark off in the boxes underneath for my grains, fruits, veggies, protein, etc. Then I know where I'm lacking based on the diet plan I'm following (gotta get those vegetables in!) and add those items in for my snacks. This has really changed my eating for the better and I have lost more weight per week than I was before now that I'm paying better attention to my eating habits. I love this journal and will definitely buy another when I finish up with this one. I was worried about the cost, but after using it for a couple of weeks now I'm convinced that it's worth every penny.
