Magpul Industries iPad Mini Executive Field Case

I bought the case in the hope that the form factor would accommodate my mini 4. The price was right. It fits like a glove but the controls and camera have been shifted around on the Mini 4 with several results:First, the camera lens is partly covered. This is no big thing. With an iPad, the camera is practically an afterthought and it doesn't seem to affect the image at all.Second, the volume controls no longer work. In all the previous iPad models, Apple had a hardware switch that could be set by software to mute the pad or to lock/unlock rotation. The moved that functionality to software, made it controllable from the lock screen and then moved the volume controls closer to the top.The result: The volume control switches have been moved so that the covers controls can only adjust the volume downwards. Oops!Bottom line: if you have a legacy iPad mini, this is the case for you. I bought mine in the least popular color and paid less than ten dollars for it. The case is good for peace of mind in situations where a drop could cost you hundreds of dollars in repairs. It's good enough for that, but if you want full functionality while using the case of your iPad (including hardware volume controls—software volume controls on the touch screen work just fine), you're going to have to look for another solution.

I have had Magpul cases on all of my iPhones. When I got an iPad mini I shopped and looked at all of the cases available for it. I finally settled back on the Magpul case due to its light weight and minimum bulk and I have yet to break a phone with the Magpul case on it. Being a Marine and having my phones take some nasty crashes in the field and come out fine, I figured the iPad case would be just as good. It hasn't disappointed me yet as I have now dropped my iPad twice on accident after buying the case. I would definitely recommend this case to anyone with an I pad mini.

I've been using Magpul cases on my iPhones since back around the iPhone 6. I've had three, including the one currently covering my iPhone 8. I've had decent success with those phone cases by Magpul, but that track record did not translate well to the larger format of an iPad. I'm now on my second replaced glass screen. I think the iPad mini 3 weight and size requires more protection than the form factor that's also used to protect my iPhone. Both drops on hard surfaces were akin to what I've seen my phone escape unharmed with Magpul phone cases.Yes, the iPad mini Magpul case is light and thin, but it just doesn't protect the device like I would expect. And especially at this premium price, it should do a better job than a $10 iPad mini 3 case will do. That's the direction I'm going now and I am optimistic that the $10 case will do a better job safeguarding my iPad mini 3 than this Magpul version.

Very sturdy case for ipad that fits like a glove and will protect it from drops, hits and bumps. It has bumpers for you to be able to operate all of the buttons, which is a great design decision on part of magpul (makes best mags ever).Sadly one of the oversights is the accomidation for the headphones jack, it's not wide enough for jacks with bigger diameter (ones with rubber around them. It also has a ring around the hole for the jack for protection, sadly the combination of those two things interferes with some of connectors and prevent them from being fully inserted, thus resulting in static during audio playback.You can easily fix it by cutting a bigger hole in the material.

This is for the iPad mini 1/2/3 (or something like that)This is NOT for iPad mini 4. Thus I ordered this for thewrong iPad mini. However: I love Magpul Products The quality is the best. The color (blue) is beautiful. I always use Magpul covers for my iPhones Made in USA I am jealous that Magpul does not make this gorgeous, durable, protective cover for my iPad mini 4 Perhaps a miracle will happen and they will decide to make this for my iPad mini 4.

I thought it might be cool to get a leather-looking book-style case for my iPad Mini with a built-in stand. It would be functional and be kind of incognito. It was kind of cool, but since I use the iPad Mini in portrait orientation mostly, I always had a hunk of faux-leather/cardboard composite between me and the iPad. It made if feel so thick and while protective, it kind of ruined the experience for me.This Magpul case is awesome. The blue color is sexy. The magpul grid pattern is reminiscent/taken direct from the Magpul pmags, which I love using for my AR15. I have used the phone cases of theirs of various styles and have always been happy with them, so I kind of knew what to expect.This case affords the ipad a reasonable amount of drop protection on the back, corners, and edges, you may wish to run a screen protector. I do not because, again, it kind of takes away the feel a bit and the screen is already pretty darn scratch resistant. I have two of these on iPhones (one for work, one for hearing from the kids), and now two on iPad minis. This, in conjunction with a good glass cover on the face, make adequate protection for devices that get handled pretty roughly all day long -- and with a little velcro on the back, do double-duty as MIDI instruments when I am onstage. My oldest ones still look pretty much the same as they did when I picked them up -- has been about 3 years of duty.
