The Literature Review: Six Steps to Success

I started using this text for a class and was initially not receptive to the format mostly due to the confusion around exercises. With guidance from my professor, however, it began to fall into place. It's not light reading nor something I would intentionally pick up to read, but it does have a place in academia.

So far it seems reading this book will illuminate a lot of the trial and error for doctoral students completing their dissertation chapter 2- literature review. Its formatted for easy reading as well.

For simeone who has never completed a litersture review, this book provides both process and technique. It summarizes and then methodically detsils each step and substep and provides tools to aid in application. The mechanics of organizing a literature review are clear to me as a result of reading this book.

I wish I had found this book earlier in my PhD program. It's pretty basic (definitely would be useful in a masters or undergraduate thesis situation as well) but that was what I needed. I was able to read through it in about an afternoon, and it helped me to re-think my strategy for approaching the lit review on my dissertation. I will recommend this book to students coming into our program.

Good book and logically walks you through the process. Some parts are easier to comprehend the others, and some activities may be more interesting. However, I still found this book the most engaging and user-friendly in the market.

Finally, a book that I can just read what I need to know and then move onto the next hurdle to jump. I encourage others to seek this out for their program

Do I hate this book or do I hate literature reviews? The book is simple, but overly detailed at the same time. I would have really liked a few examples of a finished product at the end. That would have helped me more than anything.

Creo que le hace falta el lenguaje cercano a los estudiantes, para poder ser una guía de la delimitación de tema de investigación. Los cuadros y diagramas que emplea son muy útiles, pero me parecen repetitivos.
