GM10-411 Differential Ring and Pinion Fits GM 8.5|GM 8.625", 4.11 Ratio

This is a good quality reasonably priced gear set. I installed this in my 99 square body suburban 10 bolt 8.5". The ring and pinion had previously been replaced in my truck before I got it. Unfortunately whoever installed that didn't clean out the meatal chunks from whatever bearing let loose previously and it caused the inner pinion bearing to go bad(as well as spider gears), no one cared and just kept driving it. I tried replacing the bearings and cleaning everything and just could not get a good gear contact pattern. I washed my hands of that set and bought this. Set up was nice and easy. I used a straight edge across the carrier bearing cap mounting flats with a dial caliper to measure pinion depth, then just had to adjust shims a few times for ring gear backlash, checked pattern and it was great. Put it together and for the first time since I've owned this vehicle there's finally no noise from the differential.

When my 1971 Nova had rear end issues, I was on the fence about which manufacturer gears I wanted to purchase and stumbled onto Motive. Yes, they are manufactured overseas but, if you or your shop follows the instructions for installation, they will be wisper quiet. Set them up to have a .007 to .009 backlash and do some light driving for 500 miles and enjoy.
