Another great Notebook of Doom story!
My second grade son loves to read and LOVES all things spooky. Although he loves to read he's been a little behind in starting reading chapter books. These are the first chapter books he's been really into. He can read them on his own, but reads them slowly and struggles with an occasional word. They are definitely age appropriate though and he is starting to get faster reading them independently. Whether he's reading them on his own or we're reading them to him, he's completely captivated by these stories. He loves the monsters and the art work throughout the book. As a parent, I enjoy the stories too. They are cute, funny stories, without any obnoxious characters or storylines. I love that my son gets so absorbed in the stories and is having so much fun reading them!

Great Series
This is a wonderful series of books, Well written and illustrated.Chapters are a perfect length to keep attention.Follow Alexander Bopp on a journey battling monsters in his new home town as he meets a few new friends and teams up with them to save his school and town. Each book can be standalone, but sometimes they pull from previous stories.

Great series for picky readers.
It's so much easier finding books girls will read. Boys don't always have the attention span to just sit and read. That being said, my son loves this book. It's funny and entertaining, just enough words for him to read without being overwhelmed by pages of type. Most of the time, we read together, but he has read this on his own. I'd recommend this book for 3rd grade, maybe earlier depending on reading level. My son has read the series at the school library, couldn't wait for this one to come out.

Son loves them
I've been getting these for my son. He was never really into captian underpants or wimpy books but he really enjoys these kinds of stories with monsters zombies etc. Undead ed was another favorite of his. Its a good alternative for boys from the mainstream books and a lot less negative language if you ask me.

Our kids LOVE Notebook of Doom book series
We read a different Scholastic books series first and needed another good "first chapter" series with lots of pictures to keep their attention. They LOVE the characters and guessing who is the baddie and/or what could happen next.Whenever possible we use the Kindle edition and broadcast it to our TV via our Amazon Firebox (via wireless projection) so that everyone can see the text and the pictures. Unfortunately not all the books are available for Amazon Kindle, so some books we had to buy as hard paper and we are running out of space in our bookshelves as we have sooo many books, so we prefer electronic copies. Electronic copies also allow us to share it onto their Amazon Fire tablets for kids.Again, LOVED by all of our kids and we have different ages and grasp of the world. It has gone so far, that our boys have us print out the monsters, trace them and then colour them in!
