This is a really sturdy book! Lots to look at on each page
This is a really sturdy book! Lots to look at on each page. The letters are textured for better finger tracing. It's great how the chapters are divided by groups of phonics letters. A wonderful supplement to the Jolly Phonics program!

Jolly learning
This book took forever to arrive, but it was worth the wait my daughter loves looking at the illustrations and every page is packed with pictures using the letter of the same page. She also really likes the braised letters to trace. Fun

Jolly Phonics stories
The book compliments the Jolly Phonics program but is not an essential part. The book binding tore after just a few weeks of light use. Colorful illustrations.

Excellent Homeschool Resources
I use youtube for the songs and a woman from the UK does a good tutorial of the hand motions. Very memorable, wish I'd found this resource sooner!

Perfect!
I have adapted the Jolly Phonics program for my preschool class. This story book will be perfect for introducing each letter and letter sound.

Children bring the Phonics to me, begging for more...
Last year, after googling synthetic phonics, I landed in "Jolly Learning Land"...the most well-rounded, enjoyable, interesting and effective phonics program I've ever used, and I've worked my way through a few. Fully supported by the information in "The Writing Road to Reading" (which has all 70 phonograms - a resource that provides a very thorough understanding and path to learning and understanding phonics from the earliest ages through adult).Running this program at home, I have found "Jolly Songs" "Jolly Stories", "Finger Phonics" (all 7), The Phonics Handbook (by Sue Lloyd, published by Jolly Phonics) and Jolly Phonics CD-Rom the most invaluable tools. I was on the fence over the DVD, but it has been a surprisingly effective practice tool that also exercises pre-writer's hand-eye coordination before they are ready to do a lot of pencil work. I have to add, "Jolly Songs" really helps retention of phonograms by the younger ones (ages 3-4).Best bit is, especially for very active children, the kinesthetic learning aspect: being able to move while learning, and that movement being a tool to memory and retention. Finger Phonics is great pre-writing practice that makes teaching how to write the letters later on MUCH more fluid. Very highly recommend!
