Protects well but stand is awkward and the sound is muffled
Pros:The case fits the iPad air perfectly and seems like it will do a good job protecting the device. The rubber provides a good grip on the device and is the perfect texture, not being too slick or sticky. The plastic cover for the screen seems to work well. Even with the case on, small dust/lint particles still get between the screen and the protector but it is pretty straightforward to pop the front off and re-clean the iPad screen.Cons:The stand is not an integral part of the case. It simply clips around the side (not the end). This adds bulk to one side of the case and seems like it could fall off and/or get lost pretty easy. It acts like one of those cheap picture frame holders. It is OK for sitting the iPad on a desk but useless in the lap or on a bed. it makes the iPad a little awkward to hold in the vertical position for, say, reading and I'm tempted to just take it off but then it would get lost and not be around when I do need it.The case really muffles the sound from the iPad. It has sound port openings on the end but these don't work well at all. When watching a movie or playing music, it seem louder on the back than the front because the back of the case is vibrating and transmitting sound. Also a little odd to hold it with the back vibrating as much as it does. You pretty much need headphones or the volume on 100% to watch a movie with the case on. Granted, a lot of this is the iPads fault for having speakers on the side but the case could have enhanced the sound with a little bit of design rather than muffling the sound. Instead of putting the sound ports on what is essentially the back of the case, they could have done just a little bit of design work and ported the sound to the front of the case and really added a lot of value. The case provides rubber flaps for each of the ports so they are protected from stuff inadvertently getting in, but this makes it pretty awkward to plug in the charger cord or headphones. Also, in order to use the back camera you have to pull open a rubber flap each time you want to use the camera. Ironically, the front camera has a cutout and a piece of plastic over it. I think I would have preferred leaving the ports open but others may prefer the added protection. I'm tempted to cut the flaps away, but that is kind of an irreversible step so I'm not going to do it yet. (I have the same challenge with the Otterbox case on my iPhone.)While it is better to scratch the plastic cover than the iPad screen, over time, this is going to get scratched and there doesn't seem to be a replacement cover available (at least not on Amazon or the Griffin support site).

Beefy case
The case is nice although not exceptional relative to other cases I've used. It has a very nice feel and a good sense of protection while not interfering with the built in speakers of the iPad. The port covers are somewhere between of questionable value and infuriatingly difficult to open. The stand works but is an obvious afterthought. Keeping it attached makes it a little awkward to hold.I had to laugh as the instructions on how to open it were sealed inside the case. When the case is assembled it is an almost seamless fit (nice) but I wasn't sure what I could tug, pry, or peel on to open it without fear of breaking that one little tab that held it together properly (you know that tab, you've broken that tab). The screen protector has a semi-matte finish. Not the Super Gloss of the iPad screen but not quite an anti-glare finish. This will be a matter of personal preference for most. When installing the cover, do it in an area that is scrupulously clean. The screen protector can build up an unbelievable amount of static electricity, attracting (seemingly) every speck of dust and debris within several feet and you'll be forever seeing things on your screen you can never wipe off. This case is probably better in an environment where protection trumps ease of use, but, I'm not sure how long or how well it will provide protection in that environment. If you're just looking for a nice, reasonably protective cover, this will fit the bill. For the list price, you can do better.

Very Good Lightweight Sturdy Screen protector
We purchased this for my 9 year old son who has special needs. We had a heavy duty MIL cover for his iPAD 4 but the screen but it never seated on the display correctly and was not very sensitive to his finger swipes. We really like this cover, it was easy to install which is good because he keeps taking the rubber bumper off. The cover is very light weight and initially I was concerned it would not hold up but so far it has been great and I would highly recommend it for kids since it is not too bulky and easy for them to handle. Their is no distortion with the screen protector and no issues with swipe gestures. He has thrown this down our carpeted steps several times and no problems so far...don't recommend this test long term!. He has removed some of the rubber port covers but that has not impacted the protection so far (we only use it in dry locations). Audio is very clear and not distorted. I wish you could purchase spare rubber bumper housing separately to replace the one on the unit. I may actually buy a spare cover since we are so happy with this one and the Amazon Price was great compared to retail.

Sturdy, Effective Case
I wanted a case for my iPad that would provide protection when I travel and when I'm outdoors, and this is it. I spent a week at Disney World, sometimes in the rain, and the iPad survived just fine. I like the covers over the openings and the corners that make it easy to grip and hang onto. No problems with any device functions with the case on. The only thing I'm not a huge fan of (so just 4 stars) is the stand. It's difficult to open and sometimes wimpy for holding up the iPad. But since I rarely use the stand while out and about, it's not a big deal.

This is a knockoff case!
A real Griffin case should have the logo embossed into the rubber. It looks like a capital G with a lowercase g inside of the uppercase one. We didn't even think to look for that when we bought this case. When the kickstand broke just days after the return period had ended, I went online to see if I could find just a replacement kickstand and read other reviews indicating this case is a knockoff. Lo and behold, it is. If you enlarge the image of the product, you can in fact see that the logo is not on there. That said, we actually liked the case except we need the kickstand feature to sit the iPad upright. It breaking was a big deal for us. If you don't need that feature, it's a durable case that works well for children.

Snug as a bug in a rug.
Up to now I've always had a case with a flap on it so that I could protect the screen when shut down, however I've always fancied trying out one of these rubberised cases and I must admit I have not been disappointed.Initially I was put off by some of the negative comments about scratches on the plastic screen and rainbow effects between the plastic screen and the iPad screen.Yes there was a scratch on the plastic screen when I received it and you can notice some rainbow effects when the iPad is off but all this fades into the background once the iPad is switched on.The experience of using the iPad with the case on is first class,I use a stylus most of the time and I do not feel the sensitivity of touch has been affected in any negative way by the plastic screen,it works perfectly for me.I think the negative comments have been overstated, when one uses the iPad in practice every day these so called problems are not even noticed. The iPad fits into the case very snugly and the little rubber covers fit over the portals very neatly, yes the case does add to the weight of the iPad but not unduly for me,I like the feel of the rubber which adds to the experience i think of viewing the iPad and all in all I'm very pleased with my purchase.

It ain't pretty but it is pretty damn good at protecting your iPad
It may not be pretty but neither is a broken screen! I already own the griffin case for my iPhone, which has saved it a few times from a broken screen. Again, not necessarily pretty but very, very functional - unless you want to carry your phone in your pocket because the case makes it a bit large. Anyway, back to this case. Ironically, I could not get the parts of the case open and the instructions to take it apart were ... inside it and said read these before attempting to take the case apart! LOL I managed it but would have been a lot easier if I could have got at the instructions first. I would definitely recommend this case if you want to protect your iPad from dirt, dropping it, sand etc and this is more important than it looking pretty.

Griffin Case
This item arrived on 14/04/2014. 5 star for that. The information leaflet including the information for dis assemble and reassemble was actually inside the product. 1 star for that. I had to blindly disassemble to get the instruction label on how to correctly carry out the function. The stand of the item had to be carefully forced to open it. You have to remove the stand from the i pad prior to closing it due to stiff movement. Risk of breakage. 1 star for thatDue to the above reasons I am disappointed with the product. I feel that these items should have been resolved prior to despatch.I do hope the product is reliable with regard to protecting my i pad. when in use

Suspect Authenticity
I suspected the authenticity of my purchase soon after I received it.POOR BUILD QUALITY and significant RAINBOW DISCOLOURATION of screen display prompted further investigation. After a quick internet search I discovered lots of advice available about counterfeit Survivor Cases.Based on information from various sources I was reasonably sure that I had received a bogus version.Returned within a couple of days - no expense incurred and full refund obtained from Amazon.

dont get me wrong, its good but there are some issues
This is a fantastic product, my 2 year loves to play on my IPAD and this saved it from being physically damaged repeatedly, not forgetting spills from liquids and dirt and even the occasional lick!It was a bit fiddly to get this on, but its light, it makes the whole thing a bit sturdier and gives you something to grip onto when using it and gives it that feeling of durabiltiy and you dont have to use it and handle it with kids gloves! However, there are some negatives, hence four stars. the stand that comes with it is the flimsiest thing i have ever seen, if you going to make a hard wearing durable case then you can't give it the pathetic flimsy stand that comes with it. this broke after only 2 days by my wife. Also, if you haven't got nails then dont expect to be able to open the port covering the camera to take a quick snap, you will need to allow at least 5 minutes to get this open or get used to carrying something like a penknife to open it every time.
