Citrucel Sugar Free Fiber Powder for Occasional Constipation Relief, Methylcellulose Fiber Powder, Orange Flavor - 16.9 Ounces

I use this religiously per my doctor's recommendation. This product works differently than others and is what my doctor recommends, but it is not always available, for some reason. I can always find it here and at a decent price.

Works well

Works great without all of the excess gas so common to other fiber supplements!I have had IBS since childhood, and have never found an excellent remedy. I have gone through several prescriptions including amitriptyline and hyoscyamine but did not get much relief from them. Over time I almost just came to accept the inevitable recurring, debilitating cramps and intestinal pain. As a teen, I tried Citrucel in powder form but didn't stick with it for very long because I concluded it was not helping and wasn't going to help.Fast forward to more recent times, I was over 30 and still experiencing bouts of painful IBS symptoms, but it was not quite so regular. I could count on the pain every morning when I awoke, but only sometimes would it get to the point where it was completely debilitating. I decided to give fiber another chance, and I am so glad that I did! Initially, I tried various kinds of gummies because they were much more pleasant to eat than powdered Citrucel.After a couple of weeks, I started to notice my symptoms getting a little bit better. It did not hurt so much when I had an IBS flare-up, and the flare-ups were fewer and farther between than before. However, these made me feel a bit gassy, with rumbling intestines and the unavoidable need to burp regularly on many days.I then remembered Citrucel from my teenage years, which was the one my doctor had recommended, and I found it in pill form because I find it unpleasant to drink mixed with water. I am thrilled with my decision. After a while of taking these, I am feeling more relief than with anything else I have tried in the past. Some days I have no IBS symptoms at all, which sure is great!More recently, I have also been taking these with a probiotic every day (Trunature Digestive Probiotic, which I found with the help of Labdoor.com, who also happens to ship them properly in cold packs). The probiotics have helped even more, and my IBS pain is almost never debilitating anymore when it is present at all.

I have been taking this product daily since 2002 (over 20 years). I used to buy it at Costco, but they stopped carrying it. Then went to Amazon, but saw that it was hard to find in late 2023. Like many others I used up the "old stuff" on hand and fortunately it started to re-appear when the "old stuff" ran out. I wish it came in the larger size, but at least it's available. The "new stuff" is exactly the same as what I have been taking for 2 decades. It acts the same, it tastes the same and it mixes the same. If the mixed reviews here concern you (like they did me), take comfort from my experience and spend the $20+ to try it yourself. Hopefully the larger size will also start to re-appear soon, but in the meantime life is back to normal with the product being available at a decent price.

Helpful for tummy

As always, when adding any supplement to your diet you should always talk to your doctor. That being said I was using another brand. When I told my doctor, he told me to stop that one and use this one. So far so good.

Great purchase

The sugar free Citrucell is very hard to find in stock at the chain stores. There was a shortage a while back of one of the main ingredients that caused this & they still haven’t caught up with deliveries. I paid a little more than I usually do but I was very happy that Amazon had it in stock. I’ve been using this brand for a long time and it works well for me. Also it has a pleasant taste.
