Do you have to cycle through all the modes when turning on and off?

yes and no, if within a short period of cycling to a mode : yes. if on a mode for, idk , a long period of time: no. red light mode requires a long press, then the device is in red light mode (no white light in cycle, only steady red and flashing red). long press to switch back to white light mode. cycle through low high flash. I mostly turn to low (first setting) , use for a period of time and click to turn off. if im showing the features off then cycling and long pressing to switch are used. great buy. awesome style.

Does this model have separate buttons for white and red light?

Yes, this headlamp has a 45-degree tiltable body. If you need a headlamp that is able to tilt down even more than that, you can take a look at our MX20 (it is battery powered, however, its body is able to tilt down up to 90 degrees).
