I had previously bought at 'older' version of this from another seller and it vibrated so badly it was unusable. I have Prime, so nothing lost, and the same here. this is advertised as "stable and long-lasting rotation, silent and not easy to shake.". It is actually loose on the bearings, so badly out of balance it makes a loud buzzing noise with horrible vibration for the few seconds it actually spins. There seem to be a lot of similar items for sale, and I have now tried one of each model , with the circular frame, and the inward curving frame (this one), despite the pictures showing both forms on this ad. If you want a pleasing toy, steer clear of this one or the many like it if you don't want disappointment. As mentioned, I have Prime, so return was easy and cost me nothing, which is great. I have spent a lot of time researching these toys, lots of them out there at wildly different prices, but they all seem to be from the same source. If you want one for a gift, buy it and try it before disappointing the recipient. At least with Amazon you can return free, and get rapid credit on your account. Update: I received the following response from the seller, but will not be changing my review, as the vibration is not due to a lack of lubrication, it is a basic design flaw, in that the spindle tip is a very thin wire that cannot be set straight within the bearing cup at each end: Hello Mark, Good day! Fantastic idea. Not very well executed. The string broke after using the toy less than half an hour.

The fly wheel does not have sufficient mass to retain good momentum and therefore makes it difficult to demonstrate/play with the different effects possible. On the whole a bit disappointing but it did bring some wonder to a 5 year old so was worthwhile in the end!

I’ve bought four of these, they are easy to use and assemble, very robust, top Quality, easy to store and keep clean, great value for money

Although it does not make any difference to the fun the children had with the gyroscope, the design of the gyroscope we received was the one pictured smaller in the promotional display.

Perfect scientific toy to show great grandkids.

Was für ein Mist.... Typisch Made in China... Das Ding rumpelt und rattert,läuft nicht mal gerade sondern eiert wie ne kaputte Fahrradfelge. Es hat eine starke Unwucht und ist weit entfernt von einem präzise gefertigten Gyroskop. Ich hätte es eigentlich wissen müssen... die Chinesen haben es nicht drauf , kopieren alles und machen es billig aber man kann sich darauf verlassen das man enttäuscht wird.

Sieht ziemlich schön aus und ähnelt dem Foto, aber dreht sich nicht so lange, wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Es gibt auch Vibrationen.
