I wanted to purchase a good quality radio, at a reasonable price, so I could listen to BBC Radio Three (concerts, classical, opera, jazz, plays) and BBC Radio Four (interviews, news, documentaries) in my newly refurbished downstairs bathroom. To consider shortlisting a radio, it would need to be matched against a set of criteria's e.g. the design (how a radio looks and how it sits in the landscape), the size, the colour, the weight, where the controls are located (on the front or on the top), the grouping of the controls, the size of the speaker and the wattage, the sound quality, the build quality and the power source (replaceable batteries, rechargeable batteries or mains). With this in mind I began my search through multiple pages of radio's for sale. Many of them failed the shortlist process due to poor design, many of the radio's were far too cheap while others were far too expensive, many had straps for handles and many were only mains powered. Once completed, I turned my attention to each of the shortlisted radio's features and then to the customer feedback. Eventually I choose the retro styled Retekess TR626 radio, priced at £33.99. The radio is simple to operate with manual rotary (volume, tuning, power) and slider dials (band selector, function), large frequency display window, 4 band (FM,AM,LW,SW) radio, battery and/or mains power, supports bluetooth (5.1) wireless function, built in 3.5inch speaker, standard 3.5mm headphone jack, AC power cable, adjustable telescopic antenna and the user manual. The price of a radio is always a good indicator and tells you something about the radio's level of features. It is important to know what you are getting for the price you are paying. You must do your homework before you make a purchase. Customer feedback mattered, it was extremely important to read as much about a radio as possible, not just the manufacturer's information. It was essential to know what customer's thought, so as to avoid possible problems. The customer reviews for the Retekess TR626 were on the whole very good, this I found encouraging and grateful for the invaluable insight customer's provided. It meant I could purchase the radio with confidence. This is my second Retekess radio purchased, the previous Retekess TR618 radio now sits in the kitchen, which was purchased in November 2023.

Good little radio, has a nice sound to it and easy to use. Good value for money. Works off plug in timers which is why I brought it so can have on while away, more modern radios don't work on timers.

Just what I needed for the garage, plenty of stations get picked up and the novelty of Bluetooth is great. really nice radio.

This is a solid old good fashioned radio bought to replace 25-year-old radio was well past its sell by date. It is easy to use. It is solidly built and has a very good tone with easy-to-read dial. We recently had a power cut. This radio was the only thing that worked. No electric = no internet, no mobile or TV. The radio kept us updated.

Good volume. Fine for the garden.
