WOW! This printer has been VERY impressive thus far *UPDATE*
My old printer broke (sooner than I would have liked) so I did A LOT of research before deciding to buy this Epson EcoTank printer for home office use. This is my honest review of it this far and I will definitely update my review if I run into any issues. So far, this printer has been pretty impressive (I've been using it for about a month). The price was pretty average for a printer... but I personally think all printers are overpriced so it was a bit more than I would have liked to spend. It is smaller and more lightweight than I was expecting which is a plus because it takes up less desk space than my previous HP printer. It is very easy to set up, comes with step-by-step easy instructions and guided instructions through the app. It only took me about 10 minutes (Mostly just waiting for the printer to initialize on its own). It is very easy and surprisingly satisfying to fill the ink tank. I like the idea that this ink might last longer than traditional cartridges and won't have as much plastic waste that went along with my old HP Inkjet.I have printed plain black and white documents as well as photos. I print all my photos at home, which is most of the printing that I do, so quality was important to me. The photos came out with pretty good quality! No ink smudges or off colors, colors are bright/vivid, and it is easy to modify what paper you're using with automatic prompts on the printer. Now for the negatives and the reason I'm giving this 4 stars... app to printer connection issues. This was a big issue with my old printer as well. I'm pretty tech savvy and I just have no idea why this is still always an issue for me. There is an extra Epson app that you are supposed to download for printing. Sometimes it can find my printer, sometimes it can't. Sometimes it gives me printer errors or won't let me print documents. And now every time I go to print something it says the paper being used doesn't match the paper settings so I have to bypass that error message (even though it does match in settings and the app, and this happens for both regular paper and photo paper). I've turned everything off and back on again, but the issues with consistent connection and error messages are still an issue.Usually with some fiddling around, I can get the documents/pictures to print but sometimes it feels like I'm jumping through unnecessary hoops. I'm still working out the kinks so if I find some magic solution I'll update my review. Considering this is an issue with most home printers I've used, it's not a deal breaker. All in all, if you are looking for a new home printer, I would definitely recommend this one. The quality has been great for me and I am pleased with my purchase (so far).Hope this helps!*UPDATE*: I have now printed HUNDREDS of photos, they are all excellent quality, and my ink tanks are still mostly full. This is WAY better than my HP printer as far as ink longevity. Changing my review to 5 stars just based on how long this ink lasts. User interface is still a tad annoying but so worth it regardless.

So far, so good
I purchased the ET-2800 as a replacement for my aging Epson Artisan 837 printer. Both printers are ink-based and print black & white and color. (However, the 837 also has an Automatic Document Feeder and fax capability, whereas the ET-2800 does not. Since I rarely, if ever, use those features, this was not an issue. Note: Epson also sells the ET-4800 printer for slightly more which has ADF and Fax capability.)1. The ET-2800 has a much smaller footprint than the 837, so it doesn’t take up as much real estate on the desktop.2. The ET-2800 is feather-light compared with the 837, which is built like a tank and weighs 40-50 lbs. Hence, the ET-2800 is much easier to move and position.3. Print-quality is excellent. However, I’ve not done much printing, yet, printing only the obligatory test pages during setup.4. Installation was very straightforward. Everything went as-advertised, with no hiccups or unpleasant “surprises”.5. Mac compatibility was a major consideration, as I have a Mac running the latest MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Epson fully supports the ET-2800 for the Mac.6. At the end of installation, you need to download and install the latest drivers from Epson’s website. I downloaded the bundle (recommended), which includes drivers for print and scan, as well as utilities for things like photo printing and scanning. Once installed, the ET-2800 is integrated into and supported by the Mac.7. The ET-2800 is an Eco-Tank printer; it uses bottled ink instead of the conventional ink cartridges. This was my first experience with this type of printer, and I really like it. Loading the ink into each of the 4 tanks (black, yellow, magenta, and cyan) was fast and easy. There’s no mess or chance of getting ink on yourself or the printer, which can sometimes happen with traditional cartridge ink. They say the bottled ink lasts a lot longer than cartridges; refill ink is sold separately.8. The control panel is one area that could stand improvement. It’s on the small side, with buttons whose symbols are unconventional and in some cases, non-intuitive. Epson needs to rethink their control panel design.9. Possibly the worst feature is the display - it’s very small, measuring about 1-1/4 inches square. It’s small size makes it hard to read, and forces unnecessary abbreviation of messages (simply because there isn’t enough room to display a longer, more meaningful message). I feel this one area where Epson went the “cheap” route, and it shows. They would do well to spend a little more money on a larger display.10. Entering the WiFi password during WiFi setup is… well, painful. Again, the display is very small, and you have to cursor around, shifting the input from lower to upper case, and letters to symbols and numbers. It takes a long time to enter a reasonable password, and is highly prone to error. Fortunately, this is the only alpha-numeric input you have to deal with.11. It is somewhat 'noisy' (I think) compared with other printers, and might not be the best choice if a 'quiet' office environment is important. 🙂All in all, I like this printer, and would buy it again.

Impressed So Far
Have not had this long so can’t speak to the longevity but this printer has performed great so far. Seems to be well built and the print quality is very high. Have tested printing various images and they come out looking very good and any text printed has been sharp. I like the idea of reduced waste by not using cartridges and filling the colors is super simple plus refills are much cheaper. Definitely not the quickest printer I’ve seen but still starts printing and gets the job done at a reasonable speed. The only thing I’m not crazy about is it using an external paper tray rather than an internal. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase so far and would recommend to others.
