Works
Looked for long time how to get rust from metal. I even asked the guy at a big box store and he just looked at me like I was crazy and said to scrub with a metal brush. I saw on You Tube where this was suggested to get rid of rust so I tried it. It really works. I had some rusty and discolored metal drawer pulls on an antique furniture piece. The directions are not on the bottle so I googled how much to use with water. I used a mason jar to soak the metal pieces over night. They turned out beautiful. I didn't even have to do any scrubbing. If you have a metal piece that has lots of rust, it may be more difficult. I also used this to get some black rings off the wood on the same antique table. There were several rings and they were very dark. I covered the entire table first and it came out great except the rings were not as bleached as I wanted. I then just covered the rings. I would let it set overnight and clean it the next day. I had to do this about three or four times over three or four days before I got the results I wanted. I would never have believed I could have gotten rid of those rings.

Surprised ….
I was a bit hesitant to use this on my boat teak boards but after doing a small section I was very impressed… I had dark patches on the 10’ boards that I tried sanding out without success and read about Oxalic acid and decided to give it a try… It will take another application but well worth the time and effort. The pic is after my first test section… Should have had a before and after shot but take my word for it that it worked well….

Does not disolve easily in cold water
Update: This year I used hot water from the tap, filled a 1 gallon plastic bottle and added 16 oz. of the acid and the hot water in a 5 gallon bucket and it dissolved quickly. I also put some Dawn liquid dish soap to help it cling to the surface. I added a before and after picture so you can see how well it works. No scrubbing, just spray on (I use a 1.5 gal. Garden pump sprayer), wait a few minutes and rinse. I did use a pressure washer first to remove the heavy scum. I use this to remove the algae growth from the bottom of my boat at the end of the season (it sits in the water from May to October. The only issue I have is that it doesn't dissolve easily -it's recommended to use hot water but I'm using a 5 gallon bucket which doesn't fit in the sink. But, that stated, it does a great job of removing the scum and algae. I pour the mix into a garden sprayer (a gallon at a time) and spray onto the bottom of the boat and then hose if off a few minutes later. I rarely need a brush. This is a much more economical solution than buying the ready made products sold in squirt bottles.
