Camera works great on my 2025 Can Am Spyder RT Limited

Just installed the PixelMan Backup Camera on my 2025 Can Am Spyder RT Limited and it works great! I used the provided license plate mounting bracket because I did not want to put holes in my bike. As you can see, it looks as good as the factory camera at a BIG FRACTION of the price ($30 compared to $300). It is clear and bright. Wiring was simple. I did not use the RCA cable because I had to connect this through the camera connector by the rear left tail light. I clipped the wire past the wiring hub to expose all 4 wires from the camera on the RCA side and stripped back and exposed them. The RCA portion has two wire (yellow and black). Black is not required, only the yellow for the signal to work. Still had to connect the red and black to power source. I also cut the white wire from the exposed wires to remove the cameras "guide lines", the guide lines you see in the picture is from my Can Am. The other two wires remained intact.Just follow the simple instructions and do an internet search for your specific vehicle and you can't go wrong.

Pixelman wiring connections and installation for the Porsche PCCM+ (and probably others).

Camera is excellent: brilliant color and precision. I did the wiring on my 2006 Porsche Boxster. This, for me at least, involved removing the back bumper to be able to feed camera wiring to the rear trunk area. (Any area where wiring/cable was going through a metal area was secured with Permatex Gasket Maker to avoid chafing.) After identifying the reverse gear/backup light wire to the taillight assembly, I carefully stripped the wire cover (about 1.5cm) without damaging the wire itself. After connecting the 4-pin Pixelman cables (one from the camera and the other the long cable which ran to the head unit), the two separate red wires were then brought together and soldered to the exposed backup light wire. Wrapped that in electrical tape. The cable then was run forward through the engine compartment and passenger compartment. I had recently installed the upgraded PCCM+ touch-screen head unit. A Fakra connector is required for the camera interface (about $10.00 on Amazon) for my unit. YouTube videos identified the correct pin hole for the 6-pin connector on the PCCM+. The final challenge (other than putting everything back together) was figuring out how to get a secure connection in the 6-pin. Amazon came through again with Car Terminal Electrical Pins. Using the smallest female pin in the kit, I soldered the Pixelman red wire (which provides current to the back up light and is the signal to the head unit to activate the camera). Some delicate crimping of the pin then allowed a secure fit in the 6-pin connector. A bit of a learning curve, but now it all makes sense. Next, on to installing the Pixelman camera in my older Porsche 911. Great project with great results.

Brought my old car into the modern age

I bought this in combination with a new all-screen head unit to replace my old factory stereo in a 1995 BMW M3 (E36). Routing the very long, provided cable from behind the stereo unit to the back of the car was fairly easy. The wiring instructions were accurate, but not very detailed, so I watched a few Youtube videos on wiring a backup camera to better understand all the connections.Due to my license plate being very tight against the trunk lock assembly, I had to mount the camera off center, but it resulted in a very stealthy installation and still works very well. Due to the offset mounting, I appreciated the option to "cut the white wire" to turn off the built-in parking assist lines and use the lines built into my head unit, which I could adjust for the slightly skewed viewpoint. The image is clear. The fuzziness you see in the photos is mostly due to the low resolution of my screen (only about 600x400 pixels for the camera image). Perfectly adequate for parking or seeing pedestrians. The viewing angle is very wide and I have mounted it so that the bottom of the screen can see the ground about 18 inches from the back of my car. The red line in the pictures corresponds to 3 feet and the green line is about 10 feet away.I have not yet tested the camera in the dark, but one of the reasons I purchased this unit was the low lux rating, so I expect it to work well with just my car's backup lights. I'll update this review once I have some nighttime samples.

Good image quality, easy install, but, the camera slips over time

Came with plenty of wire to run from my hatch on a Mazda cx-5 to pioneer car stereo. Once I connected the power from the camera to the trigger switch, backup light and RCA in, everything worked great. I initially missed the trigger wire connection and it was spotty. But, fixing this, it now triggers reliably. The image is clear in my pioneer head unit. The biggest issue is the eventual movement of the camera. I have found after 5000 ish miles, I have to get out the screw driver re-angle the camera and tighten it back down. Seems like the screws could use some thread locker. I may try this and see if that keeps it in place longer.

Why I Use This Cam EVERY Time!

If you're looking at this to connect to a hitch, it's not the best choice (although its good for backing up to a trailer) it's wide angle, but that's where it's actually terrific! When you're backing up a lot of times it's really hard to see out of some cars. I have a Jeep Wrangler four-door soft top. It's hard to see out of the back and because the way those things are designed, I don't have a great view all the way around the rear. Even with the mirrors, sometimes I can't see everything... so this cam really does a great job of letting me see what's going on behind me. When I'm trying to back out of a parking spot, I can see if people are in the periphery. I can see if cars are coming, or people are about to walk behind my car. It does a really terrific job of telling me what's going to be in my way, or might be getting in my way in the near future. I probably wouldn't use it for connecting to a hitch but I sure as heck use it every single day, every single time I'm backing out of a parking spot!
