Grateful to learn more about this medicine
Having recently been treated by a loving Tibetan physician for a uterine fibroid tumor with marvelously successful results, I desired to learn more about this beautiful, compassionate medicine. Dr. Pema Dorjee does a wonderful job of teaching me more about this medicine which has so much to offer to the healing of our fragile, hurting planet. I am grateful!

A spiritually inspiring and highly informative overview of Traditional Tibetan healing
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has written an official Foreword to this book. Arranged in two Parts, the first is authored mainly by Janet Jones, a Western psychotherapist, with Terence Moore, and covers in 'diary style' Ms Jones' initial encounter and subsequent involvement with Traditional Tibetan Medicine and Tibetan Buddhism, through meeting Dr Pema Dorjee. This Part also includes an elegant, succinct, and spiritually inspiring expose of the Medicine Buddha Empowerment. Ms Jones offers a good background to the detailed coverage of the fundamental principles of Traditional Tibetan Medicine and healing offered by Dr Pema Dorjee in Part 2.The purpose of the book necessarily does not include specific information on Tibetan herbal and gem remedies, etc, as Dr Pema Dorjee offers an excellent overview of the Four Tantras (rGyu-shi), the spiritual philosophy, the diagnostic techniques, and the treatments, of Tibetan healing; and his coverage of the Three Humors as energetic and psychological types (for example, there are details on the 'five different types of rLung' energy), and of the Seven Constituents, and Five Elements, etc, especially in connection to 'mind', are not only well organized for study purposes, but also highly useful and, again, written in a personable style, though packed solidly with information. This book also includes 16 quality color photographs, three of various Medicine Buddha thangkas.I have a large collection of books on Tibetan Medicine and find this one indispensable for its clarity, spiritual content, and practical detail. I highly recommended it as an excellent accompaniment to any study of Traditional Tibetan Medicine at any level. It is also a good read!(This review is based on the 2005 London paperback edition which is entitled 'Heal Your Spirit, Heal Yourself: The Spiritual Medicine of Tibet'.)
