Hidden benefit
First of all, the other reviewer is correct. The usb-c connector is too close to the SFP. This is a design flaw that will be obvious to everyone that uses this. Hard to believe that they ok'd production on this item with this flaw. BUT, my favorite thing about this converter is the fact that it's powered by usb-c at all. It means you don't need a wall-wart to plug it in, a chronic source of unwanted noise in an audio system. Further, if you have a usb cube or brick that has a battery built-in, then you can power this thing by that battery, a much cleaner source of power. That's pretty unique. That and the extra small size make this converter a winner in my book.

Small footprint
Fiber connectivity is indicated on the ethernet module side. The included SFP module is single mode and works with other brand SFPs. It's a smaller foot print than most which is better for transport/storage. The converter is powered with a USB A AC/DC adaptor, and the converter can also be powered by my laptop's USB port.

Very Poor Power Placement... As Predicted Stopped Working...
** Update **As I had predicted in my original review, when I moved this to what was supposed to be its permanent home it stopped working. I wanted to make sure that this was fully tested before getting up on a scissor lift to bring the camera down to install this converter. Unplugged everything from where it was working, and then started to working the parts in where they should be and another quick test to only get no power. If I wiggle the USB power cord the power will sometimes flash back on. So, if you purchase this make sure that you install and never touch it again. On a side note, after I left my original review the seller/manufacturer did reach out to me. They explained that the horrible way that the power plug has to be bent is due to the small size. They also claimed that the picture I posted went with another of their products, instead of apologizing for uploading the wrong picture for this item and then fixed it once someone pointed it out. I checked multiple times before downloading that image that they had indeed associated it with the wrong product. The really funny thing, this product now has a different main picture and 1 less in the number of pictures as before. It's easier to just say that you are sorry for a mistake than to call a customer crazy.** Original **I want to start off by stating that I am relatively new to fiber. I should correct that by saying that I am new to current-day fiber optics since I was originally trained/certified way back in the 90s when taking a course created by Corning Inc. and the instructors were Corning employees. (Corning Inc. is the creator of fiber optic communications, and I grew up in the Corning, NY area. Talk about a company that put all of their eggs in one basket! The company almost went under when it sold off its press wares and other divisions to focus solely on fiber, and then it didn't catch on as quickly as expected for a multitude of reasons. Plus some other stuff like breast implants.) Moving on... Back then there was nothing even close to the multitude of options today for types of fiber, single or multi modes, and even the connectors. This media converter arrived and I was a little confused because I was expecting 2 different SFP adapters to be in the box due to the product picture. I looked at the product page again to try and figure out what I didn't understand, only to find that the SPF adapters in the picture have nothing to do with the product being sold/shipped. Thankfully, I did order the correct SFP needed and set out to finish another leg of my home and home office upgrades. I love how compact this converter is, but to use either the included USB-C cable, or any USB-C cable, it will be constantly putting stress on the port and almost bending it due to how close the USB and SFP ports are. This is not good and should never have had this design approved! I have had other electronics where a cable is forced at any degree of an angle and the port will fail, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life! (-Casablanca)The included pamphlet even shows pictures of this coming in 3 different colors, which would be awesome, but they don't seem to sell such a thing. This would be a great product with the metal shell if they corrected the power plug, and while speaking of the power, they state "You can simply use USB port on PC to power this device.". However, there isn't a regulator chip (it could have a different technical name), so you have to make sure and only use a 5V port, a multi-voltage port could overpower and damage this media converter.🐻 *Statement/Disclaimer: This review is part of Amazon's Vine Program which provides products at a reduced cost in exchange for sincere/frank reviews. Top marks.
Ran the speed tests and stability tests overnight, and this thing never faltered. Good start, for sure. Also it seems like the SFP sock that came with this one doesn't seem to have the latch problem that other similar socks do. So even better. Top marks, good show.

Tested well
I have been converting my house to fiber and these tiny converters are perfect. Have tested them through multimode but working well on single.

Solid USB C Powered Converter
Converter seems solid. USB C jack is tight and you need a smaller plug housing. It works! USB C powered is nice so I don't have to hunt for an adapter that may or may not work. Metal housing makes it feel sturdy. Seems like a good deal.
