The material is shiny and kinda stretchy, nothing like cotton. The body is tight so order a size larger than normal but, beware of the length. I'm 5'7" and chunky so I ordered an extra large. Again, the body was tight but ordering the next size is out of the question because the length would be too long. As far as the lettering, it's rubberized so I don't know how it will hold up . I'm keeping it to wear under my denim vest when out on my bike.
