Game changer
I was sick of dealing with the cheap insert parting tool giving me issues. This cobalt HSS cutter works awesome on both mild steel and aluminum. A little love on the leading edge to clean up burrs produced a clean cut in no time. Highly recommended cutter for anyone with a lathe!

This is the second time buying this
I bought one of these a while back and it has been performing very well. It did need a little touch up on the cutting edge, but that is to be expected since people use different set ups. I use this in a BXA 250-207 holder so the angle it pretty close to what I need. When set up right this blade cuts through steel like butter. I have used it on Aluminum, Mild Steel, 12L14, and a couple types of Stainless.I am buying a new one because I made a mistake while parting. I was using tail support on a part with a large hang out (planning on removing when I got close to finished) and screwed up when I went to remove the tail support resulting in a broken blade. I was able to fix the blade (which is shorter now) by grinding it again but I wanted to have the full length.

Definitely worth the money!
I am new to machining and this is my first use of a parting tool. I was warned to wait until I "got my feet wet" before attempting parting. Plus, I was told to "stay away from the cheap tools until you break a few high dollar ones".Well, I got my feet wet, but jumped into the lower cost unit right off. I am VERY HAPPY with the decision. Like anything else, setup is the key to parting. BUT...if you set up correctly, and watch your feed/speed, this tool is AWESOME! Immediately, it looked like I knew what I was doing. No chatter, and the tool did not try to walk up or down the material.I should shay that I use a Precision Matthews, 1440BV lathe, which I also love.Definitely worth the money!

A good match for mini-lathes
The narrow profile of this parting tool greatly reduces the amount of power needed to cut through material at a reasonable rate. This is particularly important with mini lathes (8" x 16" for example) that have a limited amount of available torqueOf course it cuts through aluminum with ease, as can be seen in the photo. But it also carves its way through 304 stainless without much strain, leaving nice "clock springs" of metal coming off the work piece. And it's maintained its edge well, even when machining steel.

Soft, not good for steel...
Edge rolled when trying to part a small .2" dia 41L40 part. Speeds were proper and feed was by hand due to possible part deflection. Edge rolled almost immediately. Have not tried to sharpen or grind any new Edge on it yet and that may adjust my review. Have not tired it on aluminum or softer metals and it may work fantastic for that.

Surprisingly good
Sharpened it and proceeded to plunge it 1.5" into 304SS. Five stars

Gotta have if ya bought the set of tool holders. Accusize quick change 250-107.
But dam its expensive. Hope it works good. Update. O.K. this is why it is expensive. This tool saved my life. It is the only thing that would part off 1'' of excess flange on my Accusize 5'' back plate I purchased for the 3 jaw chuck to match. Turned out back plate was made of ''tool steel''. I destroyed my H.S.S. tooling before realizing what I was dealing with. I highly advise people to buy this parting off blade. Will certainly be picking up a spare. p.s. Had to stop and sharpen tool many times to complete job but who cares it got the job done.
