Great respirator if it will fit under your hood
I like this respirator and I think it's a great product, just beware that it may not fit under your hood. It's fits under my speedglas great, and my jackson nexgen, but it doesn't fit under my miller digital infinity. You would think a miller respirator would work under a miller hood, but it hits the bottom of the lens and the hood won't drop fully with this respirator on. If your thinking about it, get one, save your lungs, especially if you do stainless stick welding.

Tricky to choose the correct size, but what I got fits me OK, and it feels good.
I ordered this on Feb. 16 and I received it on Feb. 21.That's not much shipping time when it had to come all the way across the country. To start with: Which size should you get ???There is almost no useful information available to guide a personexcept a generalized statement that Does Not inspire confidence. After much thinking and consideration, I finally decided to get the larger size, hoping it would be close enough. It seems just ever-so-slightly too big, but I can easily get and maintain a good seal with it, so I believe it will do.One thing about checking the seal is that you need fairly good-sized hands,or maybe some plastic wrap, to completely cover the filters while you inhale. This will be true of both mask sizes because the filters are the same.I barely managed to cover them well enough with my reasonably normal-sized hands. The fit of the facepiece is nice and comfy. The feel is soft, smooth, and pleasant. On my initial trial, I wore it only long enough to get a general impression of it and take some pictures, but I didn't want to take it off when I was finished. That's always a good indication to me that something is likely to be a keeper. There was a little surprise, though: Something tickled my lips a few times as I inhaled. The inlet valves are fully exposed and may make contact if they open far enough.Nothing to be concerned about as long as you know what it is, but I think it's worth mentioning.Breathing resistance with clean filters is almost unnoticeable, a definite advantage, but one can only wonder how fast it will increase as they get dirty.I'm going to risk a guess that the resistance will remain relatively low until the filters get really crudded up.Some say the colour is unattractive.Well, this is safety equipment, not a fashion statement, unless you intend to wear it as a fashion item.In that case you can paint it up, apply stickers, or even knit a cover for it --- whatever works for you.The shape looks to be compatible with something round, so it should be easy... maybe a drawstring bag? That would at least be quick and easy to attach.Just make sure it will readily pass air!Girls who give it some thought will probably come up with all sorts of cute ideas.[Reviewer waits patiently but with little hope of seeing any fun pix.]I find it quite acceptable as it comes, and I intend, as conditions compel,to wear this thing out in public a Lot, no matter what anyone thinks of it.That is because my purposes for this respirator include, among numerous others, protection against the farm dust that blows around where I live, which is a large town almost completely surrounded by agriculture in a windy valley.People here sometimes get sick for no apparent reason, and as I age I seem to be more and more affected by "something in the air".I have decided to start Doing Something About It,and this respirator is my first step in that process.Last December (2017) we were under a huge cloud of smoke from some of the fires in southern California. For a good part of a day, I wore a Survivair respirator with P100 filters as protection from the smoke.I would wear it generally against the farm dust if not for the inconvenience of having two "cans",though relatively small ones, sticking out and getting bumped as I go about my errands. They seem to make contact with me or something else every time I turn my head, especially while driving, which is somewhat of a distraction to say the least. This Miller/ GVS item (look inside the facepiece --- you'll find it has "GVS Elipse" in raised lettering molded into it)has the advantage of no protruding "cans", but let me say here that the mask is quite deep;when I first inspected it I thought I heard an echo come out of it.How it is supposed to fit under a welding helmet is beyond me, though some say it will.Since I'm not a welder, I don't expect to have that concern, but I can't help thinking of it.You should note in two similar pix the upper strap. It should be as high up on the head as possible without it slipping forward.Even after I moved mine up a bit for the second image it was still lower than I think it should be.This was an imaging session, not actual use, so I let the error pass for the moment. That strap has a movable piece on it with a gripper surface that should be on the insidewhere it can get a hold on hair, provided the wearer has some.(I wore a fabric ski mask for these pix to keep my tangled mess of longish hair out of the way.)I suppose the gripper's nodules might be a bit scratchy for those with bare pates. What to do about that is up to you, but I would seriously consider a "sticky" patchlike one of those non-slip dash pads for phones and stuff in cars.If it won't let things slide off the dash, it should keep the strap from slipping off your noggin. One frustration I have about this product is that I spent a lot of time and efforttrying to get a mask that Came With nuisance odor filters, and the one I received has only the plain ones.I also ordered a set of n.o. filters (yet to arrive), but if Miller, the seller, or Amazon itselfwants to make nice-nice with me, I'll gladly take another pair as a palliative for my inconvenience.(Just be Sure they Are the ones WITH the charcoal layer in them.)If no one does anything about that, I'll simply say "oh, well" and go on.These products are confusing sometimes even when you are sure of what you're doing, but Absolutely Clear Labelling and Complete, Accurate Descriptions would Go a Long Waytoward eliminating such little annoyances.I will add a fifth rating star if I find myself sufficiently satisfied after using the mask for a while.UPDATE 2022 Oct 30:Unfortunately, this product ended up being a major disappointment. It began to deteriorate, developing an oily ooze on its surfaceand splitting apart at the bottom of the face seal. Now I would give it a rating of one star and I no longer recommend it for any purpose.Do yourself the favour of buying something guaranteed to be made of pure medical-grade silicone.

Very comfortable
I got this for welding/fab mainly, coming home from work coughing up a lung with a sore throat is no longer an issue for me. Fits just barely under my helmet, which is one of the old school ones with the top chopped off but still works great.
