Good.
I get these because the filler is not too hard or too soft. The Sharpie china markers are way too soft. I like to put a fine wedge point on these to draw along a straight edge. The sharpie line goes thick right away, especially in summer. These hold the point longer and as a result, last longer than the Sharpie brand.

There you are!
I used these at work and had to buy them somehow. They cover what I need to cover really well. I'm not sure about removing them though. I don't plan on using them on certain surfaces, so I don't know the results. They don't smear on paper or slick paper or cardboard boxes and such, so that's perfect. The way to "sharpen" them is so interesting and fun. They don't peel correctly if ripped going the wrong way. The strings have yet to come out, but use a knife or box cutter to cut into the pencil a little bit to sharpen it if the string is gone. BE CAREFUL! I liked these pencils a lot. I'd buy them again.

Writes very well and is waterproof, but using them can be a challenge
First of all, I want to commend whoever makes these pencils for creating something that is almost impossible to rub off of a plant label. This is so important for those of us doing gardening outdoors. My biggest gripe with it is that when you're trying to peel off paper to reveal more of the pencil part, sometimes it can rip and you're stuck with a pencil that you need to either manually sharpen or throw away. If you can get past that part, they work very well.

Glad I remembered their existence from back in elementary school 60 years ago
I am often on the go and carry a lot of fast food gift cards. I thought I was being clever carrying a crayon and writing the remaining balance on the cards after using so I wouldn't have to wrap each in its receipt to keep track, until it got hot and the crayon melted in the car. Now I carry a china marker and I can write the balance on the card and erase it with a tissue and update the remaining balance with no worry that I'll have a mess to clean up. A simple, silly luxury that makes life just a little easier!

Great For The Garden
I use these in lots of ways but mostly for the garden. I buy old mini-blinds at garage sales and cut the blind slats into 3" to 6" pieces, depending on how I plan to use them, then write on the end with the china marker. The writing is still clear and readable after an entire garden season of being outside in the elements. In fact, I reuse them for another year or two before the plastic breaks, and I have to clean off the previous year's writing WITH CLEANSER. I use them also to mark freezer containers and when I collect and dry seed, I spread the seed on saucers to dry and mark on the saucer what the seed is. When I pre-germinate seed in coffee filters I mark on the coffee filter, while it is still dry, what the seed is. No fading, no running. For that matter, I've never had one break on me, but I imagine it's possible if you peel the paper down too far and press down too hard when writing. Don't leave these out in the sun though.

China markers are hard
It’s hard to find a good china marker. So far I’ve been fussing with sharpie brand and switched to these. These glide pretty easy and are easy to sharpen with a blade. They don’t crack off. The whole pull string paper deal is frustrating because it doesn’t always work out as expected. Usually the paper doesn’t peel off and expose as much of the marker as I’d like. All in all though, I’ll continue to purchase this brand over others.
