It's not 24 AWG (gauge).
CAT5e is typically 24 AWG (gauge). The description doesn't provide the wire gauge but it's safe to say it's not 24ga. Buyers should beware but use their own judgment, smaller wire gauge could cause some negative results. Should also point out the deceptive image, page shows a CAT6 which utilizes larger gauge wire. I don't recommend.

Saved me from going to jail.
This cord is hands down the best item I've ever bought on Amazon. It's saved me from possible jail time- let me explain. I live with an insane, narcissistic, and immature roommate who I go out of my way to avoid. Unfortunately, outright avoidance has been more difficult with the pandemic. I started working from home in March while my roommate, whose in banking, continued going to her office. This worked for us because we barely saw one another, until she came home one evening with a work computer and informed me she'd be staying home with me until the pandemic was over. When she said this I immediately fought the urge to scream, while thinking of the countless hours in therapy I was going to need after the pandemic was over due to the amount of abuse I would certainly endure from being under quarantine with her. Well that's if I didn't end up in jail first when my sanity snapped. To my horror she started setting up her workstation in the common area, saying she needed to plug the computer into the router directly. That's when I jumped into action and asked her "if it were possible for her to work in her room, would she?" She thank god said yes. I opened Amazon and began my frantic search for a cord long enough to keep the resident narcissist far away from me as possible. I found this cord and after reading the reviews ordered it with 1 day shipping. When it arrived, I immediately helped my roommate move her work station. It works amazingly well for the price I paid for it. It's a bit fragile so I've tapped it down and covered it in many places in order to protect it. With my roomate safely tucked out of sight out of mind I can honestly say this cord saved my sanity and me from serving possible jail time. I would highly recommend it to anyone who can't escape their ghastly roommates because of cord restrictions.

Communicating with Mars.......
Needing to put internet in my shop (detached from house) which was a about a 180' run. DIdnt wont to buy a 500' roll in the box so i opted for this cable. As other reviews mentioned, it is a VERY thin Cat5 cable. I didnt have any issues pulling it thru 80' of conduit but i can see where if you are not careful, it can kink and break or can break just from pulling. In my opinon, it would be good to run from room to room or things of that nature, but if one is wanting something more durable, spend a few extra bucks and get a thicker more quality cable. I did get the cable installed and connected, all went well and works. Now have internet/wifi in my shop.

Poor performance
I was out of bulk Cat5e, so grabbed this cable (100ft) as a quick solution to hooking up an IP security cam. The cable was surprisingly thin and flexible compared to typical Cat5e. Once set up, I realized that the camera's throughput was absolutely terrible in comparison to two identical cameras using custom-made cables. It was possible that the camera itself was failing in some way, but I decided that an obvious test was to swap a different cable--problem solved. With the Cables Direct cable the timestamp in the camera live stream would frequently freeze, and the camera would be completely unresponsive to Pan/Tilt/Zoom adjustments, and it would disappear from the IP camera network. Don't know what exactly is wrong with it, but I definitely would not buy again. Got more bulk cable in, so can make a proper cable as I've done for most of the other cameras.

Cable is durable, but length is shorter than advertised
I ordered the 50 foot cable that was advertised, but the cable seems to only be about 25 feet. I gave it low ratings for that reason, but the cable itself is durable and good quality. The sellers length description is off , so order an extra 25 feet from whatever length you need.

Literally the worst thing I've ever bought on this website
Literally the worst thing I've ever bought on this website. It barely provides an internet connection. Great for testing to see if something works, it's got the length! But it lacks speed. I was getting less than 1mbs connection WIRED to my router! I had to go back to my old bad cable, at least it provided me 10mbs and on a good day 100mbs.

Long inexpensive reliable cable
I needed an ethernet cable to run from my modem downstairs to my PC upstairs that isn't wifi enabled (as well as occasionally use on my laptop since my modem isn't the strongest). This for sure was long enough! Haven't had any connection issues with it either. Only downside is it does seem a little bit thin so if you need something heavy duty/durable this might not be it. Mine goes up and around close to the ceiling and stays put so I am not too worried about its wear and tear but I had to be careful putting it up because it wanted to kink a bit.

Super thin cable surprised us
This is THIN cable ! It seems to carry signals ok although we don't have testing equipment on it, but it is about the size of 10 or 12 gauge insulated wire. MUCH smaller than the normal Cat 5 or Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable we have bought in the past. The price reflects that you might expect some difference, of course. Out of three lengths we bought, all tested good after we ran them through their routes but gosh they were thin, so be advised.
