Does the job
No mess, no nonsense. You need Freeview on your stupid Samsung smart-TV that can't even do that without some dumb subscription? You need it for an older family member who isn't going to subscribe to some data-harvesting morass?Your answer is here. It gets to it, it works, it does TV without any hassle or fuss.

They work and represent good value.
A great way to add Freeview to an old tv . The only fault I have noticed is that it takes a while to get warmed up to produce reliable pictures. It seems to get some pixelation about 2-4 minutes after switching on, then settles down to perfect vision thereafter. The interface works but is not great and it is difficult to get program information. It switches off if you fall asleep so can be useful in the bedroom.

Simple
After my dog destroyed the remote control for my old box it worked out cheaper to buy a whole new one. Plugged it in and it sets all your channels, I’m not very techy and this is easy to use on my old tv. Good price for a basic box which is all I wanted.

Waste of money - Buy a better one.
Bought my Grandad one of these in March 2023 and it has had constant problems. Some channels just not working randomly. You might be watching a suspenseful episode of Deal or No Deal. As you sit on the edge of your seat, about to find out what’s in their box with eager anticipation, boom, the channel just cuts to no signal. An unacceptable disaster indeed. The past few months, it then started completely turning itself off. I suspect due to overheating as the time it would last until switching itself off became shorter and shorter. But seriously, a freeview box overheating? It’s not exactly rendering a real time simulation in the basement of NASA, is it? It shouldn’t over heat. So, like a fool, I bought another one. And this one came with an already broken remote control as you can see in the attached photo. Huge crack in the back of the remote and it did not function when testing it, so that one went straight back. Just got the refund and will be putting it towards a better one, because this one certainly is not worth the cheap price.Do yourself a favour and avoid. You’d have better luck getting something that wasn’t thrown together in a cheap factory in a certain Asian country for quick money. Get something you know will last a few years at least.

Ok as a back up
As an emergency back up free view box, enjoy this little unit for its price. It works. However to use as your main free view box, you will be disappointed. Remote is flimsy and erratic in operation. Scrolling through EPG changes the channels , which is a pain if you are only looking to see what's on. If unit put into standby by remote or its power switch, it will not power back up, needing a mains off and on to kick it back into life. Luckily it boots up quickly.

Super easy to set up!
Really simple to set up, only thing is lost one of my favourite channels and some others are under a different channel number to what they usually are on freeview. For example sky arts was previously no. 11 but now no. 36. Also lost "Pick" channel which was previously channel no.17. Doesn't have sub titles either but I can cope.
