This tool is built plenty strong. They saved some money where they could, but all the parts that need to have a close fit. Nothing is loose, insecure, or weak-feeling. I was easily able to put a LOT of tension on the ¾" stainless steel bands I was using. The tool also bent and cut the strap (304 stainless, 0.03" thickness) easily and cleanly. The tool comes already lubricated. Pay attention to the points that are greased and make sure to keep those spots well-lubricated. I've used white lithium grease on mine (especially on the cutting edges). This feels like it should last through many cycles of use as long as it is properly maintained.
