Very Handy Little Dock

I'm using this with a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 and so far it has been great. Note that the display ports are DVI-I and DisplayPort and that it does not have an HDMI port. I was used to using HDMI to connect my monitor, but my monitor has a DVI-D port as well, so I connected it using a DVI-D cable and it works great. If you're curious, here's the difference between DVI-D and DVI-I as I understand it: DVI-I supports analog output as well as digital output and has more pins than a DVI-D cable, and DVI-D only supports digital output. Both DVI-I and DVI-D cables will connect to a DVI-I port like the one on the dock, you just won't get analog output with a DVI-D cable.I have had no issues with my 1080X1920 HD display flickering, going blank, or anything else unpleasant. Video playback is smooth and free of artifacts. I did make sure to download the latest drivers and firmware updates from Lenovo's website, so maybe that fixed the issues other reviewers seem to be having with their displays. Also, some reviews for this dock are referencing an HDMI port, which makes me think they're reviewing the non-pro version which does have an HDMI port, the PRO version does not. I am not using dual monitor output, and I am not using the Ethernet port, so I can't comment on how well those work.I really like the OneLink technology...with one plug, I can turn my laptop into a desktop computer and have immediate access to my external display, speakers, external USB drives and devices, and even synch and charge my phone and tablet. And I can just as easily disconnect everything with just one plug. You could argue that the only real advantages to this dock over any other USB/Display hub are that you don't need another cable to charge the laptop, and that you can turn the computer on and off using the power button on the dock, but those are features I find really handy. I work from home, and have found the dock to be a real time saver. Yes, you can experience feedback from external speakers if they are left turned on and plugged into the dock when the computer is unplugged, but it's easy enough for me to turn the speakers off when I'm done using them, and I don't know that any other dock wouldn't exhibit this same behavior. If I hadn't needed/wanted the 4 USB 3.0 ports on this dock, I could have used the non-pro version with a single HDMI port and have been just as happy, but since the dock is supposed to be an all-in-one solution, I didn't want to limit my future options.

Great Design - Poor Product Quality

As a on/off switch and additional USB ports this dock works great. However, as a one plugin docking station for your notebook it doesn't work well at all.The GoodOne power connection allows you to turn on and off the notebook without having to open the lid on the notebook. Also, there are additional USB 3 ports if you need additional ports. The BadThe DVI and Display Port (that's right, Display Port NOT HDMI) cause the monitor video to loose sync a-periodically when you are streaming video from pretty much any video source - YouTube, Netflix, Xfinity, Leawo, etc. In researching this issue on Lenovo's support site there is a know video sync issue with no plans to fix the problem. The fact that this dock has a Display Port connection should tell you this is old technology. The Ethernet port will continuously loose sync with the switch while the other 4 PC's going into the switch have no problem. The Ethernet port on the notebook works just fine, not the Ethernet port on the Docking station.Other ThoughtsI purchased this specific item after an online chat with a Lenovo representative who indicated that this was the correct docking station for the Lenovo notebook I have and that it would work. I guess it does allow me to turn the notebook on without opening the lid. But the video and Ethernet were deal breakers. There is a work-a-round for this - connect the HDMI from the monitor to the notebook, connect the notebook Ethernet to the switch. Now you have an expensive on/off switch with little other functionality. So, if I am going to make all those other connections just to have the on/off switch work with the lid down, why bother.Thank goodness for Amazon's great return policy, otherwise I would be stuck fighting with some other vendor trying to resolve these issues.

Well, it's been working for me nearly perfectly

Just mentioning that the only problem I've ever had with this is that, every few hours, the screen flickers and goes out for 2-3 seconds while the thing seems to recalibrate, and then it snaps back on and is fine.I've never had any other issues. That issue is not severe enough for me to detract a star, because I am grateful there is a dock that allows me to easily connect my laptop to my external monitor and keyboard/mouse without having to deal with multiple wires and flimsy connections - the connection to this device is a rock-solid attachment that easily works after hundreds of uses and just stays solidly in place without risk of the connector getting loose - unlike the individual HDMI and USB connections, which DO have a tendency to get loose. But with this device, you plug in the HDMI (or whatever) and USB connections from the keyboard, mouse, and monitor into this unit only once, at the beginning, where they're sure to stay solidly in place, and then from there forward it's a solid one-connection step in and out with your Lenovo laptop. Five stars.

Good unit...quirky sleep mode routine...

Good little docking station. Only complaint is the Sleep Mode is very touchy. I have 2 of these units and they both struggle with sleep mode. Not sure if it a problem with the docks of the Lenovo laptop. Leave for 15 minutes..come back...screen wakes up, crtl-alt-del, username and password entered, the laptop comes up for a few seconds, then goes into sleep mode. I have to press the button on the dock 1 time to turn off (though it is already asleep), then press the button on the dock a second time, then i do the ctrl-alt-del drill again and it is fine....again it must be a lenovo thing because i have one of these docks at work and at home and they both do the same quirky thing
