This holster works great!
The holster requires that your semi has a picatinny rail under the barrel (most do). If so, the lock out works great. Using the very adjustable thumb release, coupled with the many custom cants, I can draw, fire, and holster in seconds because those seconds count. It is well worth it if you require a duty holster that can accommodate more than one gun (or not). It comes with an extra picatinny attachment for an additional firearm along with assorted thumb release pads to customize for your thumb length. Well worth it, especially for armed security who do not require level 3 retention (this is a very good level 2 holster). My PPQ M2 has only a 4" barrel so the position of the rail attachment is limited but you can see I do have choices. The screws were very firm attaching each half of the two pieces (nothing goes into the rail) indicating a nice tight fit. These screws won't back out. For those complaining about the attachment not fitting or positioning correctly, please note that if applied correctly, the attachment fits very well and is fully adjustable based upon the length of your rail. Regarding the ultimate fit, my PPQ fits in the holster with a solid click. There is zero wobbling or movement once in the holster. The extra thumb release pads, along with the many mounting possibilities makes this a really great universal holster. The only drawback is the extra length of the holster. It needs to accommodate different length barrels so it is a bit longer than a custom holster for my 4" PPQ but will also fit a 5" barrel.

Awesome holster!
Obviously there are better out there but if your still trying to find what you like it is definitely good for all pistols I've used on it and holds up well to mud and forest environments.

Rather than start a holster collection for each gun this seemed like a good option
I got this holster for “range” use where a course required an external holster. Rather than start a holster collection for each gun this seemed like a good option. For non-critical use it works fine. It “universal” aspect comes from the way it works. It comes with this plastic module that you screw on to the rail of your gun. This is what it latches onto to hold the gun. So pretty much if you have a rail you can use the gun in the holster. I personally used it for a S&W M&P 2.0 compact. A M&P 22 compact and a Kimber TLE II/TFS. The fit is generous so larger guns or those with suppressor sights are not a problem. If your gun has a longer rail you have some degree of adjustability in it. The unit has a thumb break retention. You can adjust the high of the level by screwing spacers on it. There are 3 settings for tilt (cant), zero, low and medium cant. The cant can be forward or backwards in its tilt. It comes with a LARGE paddle attachment as well as a belt loop attachment for wearing it. It comes with two attachment modules and two additional thumb break spacers. So overall you get a lot of flexibility for not much money. Where this holster really shines if you have something other than a Glock or an absolute standard issue mainstream pistol and you have not been able to find a holster for it. With this as long as you have enough space on your rail you can now have a holster. Its downsides might be outweighed by the fact that you have something! For range/hunting/general use I think it works pretty well. But for critical applications it has a few downsides that would leave me looking elsewhere. First off is that the fit is very gun dependent. Depending on your gun you might have a gap between the holster and the trigger guard, trigger not fully covered which is a no-no in grabby environments. When you pull the gun or return the gun into the holster you really have to get the angle right. Other dedicated holsters guide the gun in and out smoothly, this one does not. If your not focused you’ll be poking at the holster to get your gun back in or yank it out. Third the release mechanism isn’t smooth and doesn’t install confidence. To be fair I’ve never had it fail and when I’ve had to fight it its because I wasn’t pulling at the perfect angle, but do you really want your holster to require that perfection in a critical moment? Finally the fact that it requires a module to be screwed on does limit things. I can’t take the same gun and throw it in the holster, pull it out, put it in another holster or slap a light onto it. Conclusion – A cost effective holster that will fit just about any railed gun for general use, really good for less popular models of gun but it has its flaws for critical duties.

Works w/ Walther PDP 4.5". Very pleased!
This review is in reference to the Walther PDP 4.5" and this holster. Although it doesn't state in the description that this firearm doesn't fit this holster, I called Blackhawk directly and they said that it would. After receiving it, I went straight to putting the firearm in and it didn't fit. So, I swallowed my pride and read the directions lol. It needed the supplied rail attachment put on the firearm for it to fit and lock in the holster. Thumb release feels great and releases good. Thumb release also comes with height extenders for different size firearms which was a very much appreciated thing to include especially for my firearm. After that, it fit and worked great. So in point, if you have a full size firearm WITH A RAIL, this holster will work for your firearm. Very rugged looking and feels like it. Overall,, I am very pleased with it and glad I bought it. Mainly bought it for August 16th when open carry becomes law in SC. Hope this helps and carry on. *pun intended lol*

After breaking in, it’s wonderful for FNX 45 Tac and FN five-seven.
I almost returned it once I received it. Mine came with two attachments, but only 3 screws. So I got screwed up a little bit and not very happy. Plus, when I first got it, it’s too tight. Since it doesn’t have a leg strap, it’s difficult to draw at first. But after 2000 dry fire and quick draws, now it’s fully broke in, and works like a charm. Now it releases sooo very smoothly, but still remains very securely. I have to say this is the best 35 bux I spent on my gun. So if yours doesn’t work that well out of box, give it some breaking in. Maybe a lot of breaking in for you, but worth it. It works for my FNX 45 Tac perfectly. Trigger guard is perfectly fitted, like designed for it. Adding RMR is no problem with the holster too. But there is not space for any barrel attachment. It works for FN Five-seveN MKII as well.
