Are the seams at all even a little sharp? Some 'soft' seats have annoying seams that my mom says cut into her already hurting legs!

No seams bother my husband and he enjoys the cushion on his butt.

Does this cushion narrow the opening into the toilet (looks like it does)?

The cushion does narrow but that is to be able to rest the thighs/buttocks comfortably on the cushion. It opening can be widened by manually opening it, then tightening the straps that are holding it to the toilet seat. It has flexibility for the person using it, it is not rigid..

Can this be used to raise a toliet sitz bath ? My sires bath sits to low in toliet and cause water from toliet to be push up and out

Yes and no. You can not fasten it to the seat or the sitz bath to use. You can try to place it on top of the sitz bath rim, but again it may displace more water out of the sitz bath bowl. you may want to use a little less water to your sitz bath based on how much you displace when you sit down or move around while using it.

Will this cushion fit on an enlongated toilet seat ?

I bought this for my round toilet seat and it is slightly longer than my seat, so it might fit an elongated seat but I'm not sure. I do really like the cushion though. Very comfy and not as cold in the winter time as a regular seat. I would recommend it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
