Sushi: Jiro Gastronomy: Sushi Sukiyabashi Jiro

This book is classy AF. It has basically glamour shots of sushi. Not too much actual information, I read it cover to cover in 10 minutes, but it's a cool conversation piece.

This little pocket size book will leave a big impression on any sushi lovers wish list. Beautiful photos and special presentation of all the sushi you will get at Jiro’s throughout the seasons of the year. And a guide on how to and how not to eat sushi.

This is not a book of recipes. It is more of a reference book. The book is physically smaller than I was expecting (maybe 3”x5”), but was a great contribution to a DIY sushi kit I put together as a gift. It is focused more on detailing various fish types commonly used in sushi and tips for nigiri rather than providing recipes for rolls. That said, if you’ve never purchased and cut fish and other seafood (cockles, octopus, roe, etc) for sushi, it should prove helpful.

This was a HUGE let down. I say huge, but I also mean small......TINY. This book is literally 4"x6" and is simply a picture book of sushi with very little detail. The whole book is 92 pages of pictures of nigiri, and do's and dont's of eating sushi at his (Jiro Ono's) sushi restaurant in Japan. I knew this was not a recipe book when I ordered, but everything in this little book is stuff I ready knew and most other sushi chef's will know as well.For the home sushi cook, this will just piss you off as well, as you will learn nothing and I mean nothing that will help you make better sushi at home. I am so upset with this purchase from such a revered sushi chef (Jiro) and just want my $15 dollars back.Please, PLEASE, save your money and purchase any of the other countless books on sushi which most have all the same information as well as multitudes of sushi recipes. If you purchase this book, al I can say is......"I told you so".

If you are a sushi lover, this is a must have book to have in your library

In inglese. Si tratta di un libriccino sottile e di piccolo formato, piuttosto caro, visto l'esiguo numero di pagine. Consigliato (solo) a chi si è innamorato del film su Jiiro (Dreams of sushi). Mi aspettavo di ritrovare le regole di disciplina che distinguono il vero maestro, come nella narrazione cinematografica. Il libro, dal taglio decisamente da collezione, è essenzialmente fotografico. E' strutturato come una mini guida di regole per chi ha prenotato un pranzo presso il suo (carissimo ed esclusivo) ristorante. Sono illustrate (con foto) le varie specialità, e tutte le modalità del consumo. Quasi una sorta di galateo su come consumare il pranzo da Jiiro.

Quando adquiri o livro, não imaginei que se tratava de uma espécie de menu da casa de sushi. Aproveitei algumas informações importantes mas, se eu soubesse que não era realmente um livro, não teria adquirido.
