I've purchased 2 units. On the 1st one, one of the pulleys stopped working after a few months. Contacted customer support and no response. Purchased the 2nd one and it's starting to do the same thing. I'm sure it'll eventually stop working. I wont be buying a 3rd that's for sure.

I loved them until they broke. They are impossible to repair. I only used them for a 4-5 months and one of them jammed on the inside and wouldn’t retract. I wrote to the seller and never got a reply. Bummer

I run Surf Fit Pilates based in Newquay, Cornwall. I bought the Mavrex resistance trainer to add another another dimension to the core stability, and surf mobility training I provide for my clients. I was really impressed with the build quality, it arrived well packaged with instructions. It’s basically a pair of tiny rowing machines that you can hook onto a door frame or something. Your arms pull on the handles, and you’ve a choice of four resistance settings. I’ve been using it on the heaviest setting as that what feels most like the drag from the water as you paddle. I’ve been using it prone, laying on a box, with a stability cushion under my chest to simulate the instability of a surfboard while paddling. It’s very close to the feeling of paddling a board (minus the the duck diving) and you do use all of the same muscles. I’m in the process of creating a few programmes to make the movement more interesting by mixing up the intensity of paddling. Lazy slow paddling as if you’re negotiating the line up, mixed up with sprint paddling to simulate catching a wave. If you’re stuck inland or you’re being dragged away from the sea for some reason, then this is an ideal bit of kit to keep your paddling muscles honed so that it’s not too much of a shock when you finally get back in the water.

I really like these, and use them multiple times each week. The biggest problem I have with them is that they really don't come with a convenient way to mount them anywhere for use. I've had to rig a way to mount them on my squat rack. Once in place, the product is excellent. UPDATE After less than a year of use, using at most 3x a week, one of these things totally died.

I don't get to surf very often. So staying in shape out of the water has been a challenge. This product has been very helpful. I set mine up in the prone position, and it hits the exact muscle groups I need.
