One-Act Comedies of Moliere: Seven Plays (Applause Books)

I didn't know what to expect from this brash cover, but I need not have worried.The plays - which are most of the one-acters, and certainly all the significant ones -are delightful, and in any case they form an important part of the Moliere canon.The translation and general critical apparatus is, as far as I can tell, excellent.To be honest, I couldn't put the volume down! Buy it, amis!

Save your money. This was a really big disappointment. The only comedy involved in that book is them laughing all the way to the bank with my money.

If you're producing Moliere for an American audience, Bermel's translations/adaptations are the BEST! His texts play magnificently and his ability to transcode Moliere's sense of humor into an American-accessible format is extraordinary.

These comedies are just as good as his well known plays. This translation is simple and direct. A great addition to an actor's book shelf. Good for high school students as the plays are short.
