iFiiPower2 - Low Noise DC Power Supply - Upgrade Your Audio/Video/Electronics [12V / 1.8A]

Had a hum problem with sound system. Tracked it down to two wall-wart power supplies. The worst came with a £850 turntable, the other with a £200 multi-room adapter. Since wall-warts don't have ground pins, it was not a ground loop, just noisy power supplies injecting hum. Bought an iPower2 which cured the turntable one, bought another and cured the other. Shouldn't have needed to buy these expensive power supplies, but now I no longer have unwanted hum!

I had my doubts that replacing the Ifi zen phono preamp supplied generic power supply unit with the uprated Ifi Ipower clean supply unit would provide any audio benefits. However, having taken the plunge by buying one, I did hear a subtle but significantly improved sound quality. This was especially noticeable when using my Ortofon Quintet blue & Audio Technica AT-C09XEN moving coil cartridges. There was greater definition, quieter backgrounds with an improvement in dynamic range & cleaner transients leading to a less forced presentation. It was not as apparent with my Audio Technica AT VM95SH, Ortofon 2m blue & Nagaoka MP110 moving magnet cartridges but still there was a slight improvement. If you are trying to maximize the potential of the Ifi zen phono preamp & you have a revealing hifi system, then this is a worthwhile upgrade especially when using MCs. Recommended.

It's hard to tell the difference with this switched on or off but I do notice my foot tapping more and slightly clearer bass so it does definitely work. Is it worth the price? That probably depends on the amplifier and speakers or in my case studio monitors as well as how well the USB is sheilded in the computer. They would need to be pretty good speakers to notice I feel but my 300 pound Adam audio studio monitors do benefit.

If you are looking at this review you know what you are after.You get what you pay for in this field in my opinion and at this price point this is about as good as it gets.Noticeably different right from the word goHighly Recommend

I wanted to like this power 5 volt supply....nicely presented in a 'apple iPhone' type package. Came with multiple adapters. However, in my case, whilst the unit did power the very small device it was connected to, the unit would only work, if you turned it on at the mains, then plugged it into the device. If the unit was plugged into the device, and you then turned it on at the mains switch, nothing happened.Perhaps the unit was faulty - I assume it was, I might have been unlucky. I sent the unit back for refund, without any issues.

The evidence is in the numbers. ifi Power is cleaner, ie less noisy, than supplied 12V power supplies for BT FTTP and my Netgear Switch. You might ask why these two items specifically? The answer is that they provide the power to the internal signal for my broadband. I use Devolo powerline ethernet (cat 7) adapters and read up about issues with power supplies impacting video playbacks on networks so figured that it would make sense to look at reducing the noise floor on my internet source (BT FTTP) and termination NetGear switch in my garden office. The proof is that all connections are up by 20% in the before and after testing. Plenty good enough for me, to give ifi 5 stars for these power supplies. And saving me hundreds by not paying for Linear power supplies. (I also swapped out a 5V supply for my Bluetooth receiver and Phono Stage power supply with ifi power units - Currently doing sound tests).

This product is a no brainer,Better than stock power supply.
